P38A Misfire after oil change - 4.0 Thor / Bosch

Me too! Must be some strong coils to overcome that resistance. Interesting, probably why the new leads are a different design maybe?

P38A Misfire after oil change - 4.0 Thor / Bosch

Quick update for anyone interested... Replaced the leads this morning. I now understand how plug #1 was disconnected... The leads on my engine clearly haven't been changed in quite a while, and they pretty much all fell off of the coils without any persuasion. The new leads that I purchased...

P38A Misfire after oil change - 4.0 Thor / Bosch

Thanks! Me too, when I googled for the P1319 code everything seems to indicate that it probably isn't ignition related because it's the generic code not cylinder specific... However in my experience that is not the case haha.

P38A Misfire after oil change - 4.0 Thor / Bosch

I think I need to go and do the lottery... I just went out and plugged my OBD scanner back in, and also took my infrared thermometer out there to see if it was definitely #1 that was down, and it was... couldn't see any useful data in Torque, so thought I'd chase the plug lead back to the coil...

P38A Misfire after oil change - 4.0 Thor / Bosch

Ah ok, Torque Pro is what I'm using too.. I'll go and plug it back in to see if I can see anything relating to misfires in the live data. I've had it plugged in a few times in the past few weeks, and this morning is the first time i've ever seen a P1319. I'm still struggling to understand if...

P38A Misfire after oil change - 4.0 Thor / Bosch

I'll do a compression test later just in case that highlights anything obvious.. Unfortunately not - just a generic scanner, which luckily plays nicely with the Bosch motronic for reading fault codes... but is obviously more limited than a proper RR diagnostic like the nanocom.. I can read...

P38A Misfire after oil change - 4.0 Thor / Bosch

There's no popping under hard acceleration at all, and I did really 'give it some' to try and let it clear it's throat...

P38A Misfire after oil change - 4.0 Thor / Bosch

Hi all, As the title says, I changed the oil and oil filter yesterday and have now developed a misfire... I've got a P1319 code as a current fault which I believe is something like "Misfire detected at low fuel level" - the fuel level isn't low. I changed the spark plugs and air filter about...

ABS fault with no fault codes

I should have tried checking it sooner! Thanks again for your help all - I'll get there eventually with this abs thing!

ABS fault with no fault codes

Good point.. I cleaned each pin with a pick and wd-40 specialist contact cleaner and the intermittent issue has gone, it will only throw the abs fault message up on the dash once and then never again.. Is there an easy way to remove the pins from the OBD port so that I can ensure they are...

ABS fault with no fault codes

I wouldn't say "fixed"... I've sorted my leaking pollen filters out (took 3 attempts at sealing them but got there in the end)... Whilst I was sorting them I checked the OBD port out which I think you'd mentioned before, and water was actually dripping out of it after it had rained... I...

ABS fault with no fault codes

I've only done it once, but I followed the procedure above as per the manual/Rave... According to the manual; removing the negative terminal within 17 seconds is purely to stop the alarm from sounding... My alarm didn't go off so I know that I'd disconnected within the 17 secs, but upon...

ABS fault with no fault codes

Thanks kermit, do you mean from battery neg to the engine, or from the ground point connections to the engine, so that they're still connected to ground whilst I'm doing the cleaning/sanding? Thanks

ABS fault with no fault codes

Still no progress on this annoyingly. I've had a look at the body ground points in the engine bay (one under the fusebox/coolant reservoir, and the other on the opposite wing near the EAS unit)... both of these are fairly rusty and I believe the ABS system is grounded through these points. I...

ABS fault with no fault codes

Hi all, I think I mentioned somewhere in a previous post that sometimes the ABS Fault pops up and beeps sporadically while driving, not related to the brake pedal being touched... Other times, the ABS Fault pops up once when the ignition is turned on and then never beeps again, even on long...

P38A Strange no-start issue, immobiliser related?

Just an update for anyone that comes across this thread in the future... This was never an issue at all, the behaviour of my P38 is in line with how Passive Immobilisation works as described in the user manual (and RAVE I think). In addition, when decoding my VIN online the list of options...

ABS fault with no fault codes

Brakes feel fine, no excessive pedal travel. Pump only comes on after pressing 4-5 times. Traction control and ABS are untested as of yet... I need to find some loose gravel to perform safe tests.

    P38A Mystery connector

Ah maybe yes. As I'm chasing a mystery abs issue I secretly hoped it was brake related and would magically fix the issue... No such luck!

    P38A Mystery connector

Hi all, This is on my 2000 P38 4.0 HSE Auto.. anyone know what this 2 pin connector near the abs pump and fuse box is for? I can't find anything that it would connect to. I assumed alarm sounder but that's connected and works as expected... Any ideas? Thanks
