    02 Disco 2 - knocking from steering?

The term 'uprated' is so broad it's essentially unanswerable unless you describe what the car will be used for. This is the rule of thumb I use for suspension modifications: 1. General use as a utility vehicle, some greenlanes, towing infrequently, packing up with partner/kids/dogs/friends etc...

    02 Disco 2 - knocking from steering?

Run your hand behind the rear view mirror between the top of the windscreen glass and the headlining. If its wet your sunroof is leaking. If the footwell carpet is wet all the way up the bulkhead wall and around the tunnel, your heater matrix / hoses may be leaking. Give the 'Wet' a sniff, if it...

    02 Disco 2 - knocking from steering?

Don't bother changing the bushes on the shocks, just change the shocks. The difference in cost is not worth the time and hassle to replace the bush. Also id say replace all shocks bushes at the same time.

    Headlining recommendations

Hi All, I know how to do it. I removed the fiberglass panel when re-sealing the sunroof, i pulled the headlining back and used the spray glue to put it back in place but it just looks terrible and like i said, has definitely effected the sound deadening properties of the headliner. I was...

    Headlining recommendations

Hi all. After temporarily fixing my saggy headlining I have decided to have it professionally redone. On 1hr plus drives the difference in road noise is noticeable without the proper headlining in place. Has anyone got any recommendations for trim specialists or specifically headlining repairers...

    Trip through Exmoor

Dont know if this is the correct forum. But thought id share a couple of pictures from my recent trip to Exmoor. Havent posted in a while because i have just been enjoying the disco. It really is the perfect vehicle to enjoy the national parks in. ACE works to keep the body flat through the...

    Misc cables engine bay

The alarm definitely works. Found this out when the battery on my key fob went. Thanks though, ill dig through rave again and see if i can find what is meant to be plugged in there.

    Misc cables engine bay

Thanks Neilly. Thought it may be that. Ill do some more research to see if its possible to fit a heated screen simply.

    Misc cables engine bay

Hi all. Found some plugs in my engine bay. Im assuming the ones clipped to the bulkhead are for the fuel burning heater but the ones under the window are a mystery. Have had a look through various wiring diagrams but would like a confirmation. Anyone done anything with them? Retrofitted the...

The emerald beast - TD5 Disco

Hi callisr, Thanks, i was lucky with the car i found. The previous owner had owned it for 13 years, and even though he wasn't the most clued up with preventative maintenance he regularly had it serviced at a local to him 4x4 and LR specialist, so it had been taken care of. Having said that i...

The emerald beast - TD5 Disco

Got underneath the car over the weekend with a wire cup on a grinder and took away the surface rust on the back end. Thankfully previous owner jet washed the chassis frequently so there was only minor flaking and essentially just the paint falling off. This is the only photo I took as I was...

The emerald beast - TD5 Disco

Hi Neilly, Ah i mis-typed. I meant to say a high lift trolley jack. I used a 2 tonne jack on the chassis letting the axle hang, but it was too short by about 30mm. Ended up using some offcuts of timber joist to give it the extra height. Its a '99 disco, so i assumed it is a 10p. However i...

Replaced the oil pump bolt today. The bolt wasn't falling out but wasn't the correct torque either. There was a grinding sound prior to replacing the bolt, filters and oil on start up. That sound has now disappeared. So i am hoping it was the oil pump bolt being loose and causing a rattle...

The emerald beast - TD5 Disco

Replaced the damper bushes over the last 2 nights. Forgot to take photos amidst the swearing and wishing i had 4 arms to move the ACE pipes, wiggle the shock turret and keep the shock bush from catching on the spring. Absolute chore using a vice to push the bush in without a good set of large...

The emerald beast - TD5 Disco

Swapped the injector harness out yesterday. Bit of a fiddly job. I would recommend some tacky gasket sealant to keep the gasket in place on the rocker cover whilst fitting. The harness i received appeared to have a fix on it to eliminate the oil seepage. However, the wires connecting were...

Check engine light and loss of throttle has momentarily disappeared. Previously i was managing 3 miles before the amber light came on. A battery reset, and disconnecting and reconnecting the ECM whilst cleaning out the plugs. I removed the EGR solenoid, taped up the connectors and put them...

The emerald beast - TD5 Disco

Hi Nielly, Thanks for the advice, i had gone onto discovery2.co.uk and had a read up but didn't consider the fact someone would weld up the cross member or the bolts would be that far gone. I shall try a trial removal tonight and most likely try to find some new bolts to replace them. I had...

The emerald beast - TD5 Disco

Hi All, As promised from my intro here is my Disco . Pretty clean, surface rust underside but its solid. As soon as parts are delivered ill be taking a wire brush to the whole chassis starting with the rear cross member, rust inhibiting, priming, painting and applying waxoil. The plan is to...

    Hi All

Thanks for the advice Neilly, ill be sure to do all of that in due course. My immediate plans are rust proofing the underside, service the engine, trans and ACE system, change the other fluids, re gas AC and change the Radio for a more modern BT enabled one. I will add oil pump bolt onto the...
