I’ve got this problem now. Suddenly appeared but it is intermittent. I wonder whether my battery is just shot. I hope so anyway. Sometimes the car lasts a few days, sometimes not even an hour. I guess the only way to know is to buy a new battery.

He did say that as a guess because he knew there’d been a rebuild. He’s gone through everything now other than this bearing to get the mot so that’s next I guess if the noise persists. We shall see. The vehicle will be sold though as that was always its point. But not sold in a dodgy way.

The explosion above seems to show that only two bolts, 3 and 4, actually hold the pump to the plate. Is that right?

Sorry, its a 200tdi. Thanks Meego. I THOUGHT it was either PS pump or alternator. Is the pump fastened using simple through bolts, case the frame?

Time to show utter ignorance... In the attached photo, not mine, i have outlined a pulley. In my 110 the device that is behind that pulley is loose on the frame and needs tightning up - if i shake the pulley the whole device moves, the pulley is still securely fatsend to its own...

My son's Freelander auto has lost it's ability to reverse... the gear select seems to work, theres some mechanics under the bonnet (which I havent seen but he and a mate have) and they seem to work fine, reverse light comes on etc etc. When R is selected theres a small clunk and all SEEMS fine...
