All sorted! 2nd hand switch from eBay worked a treat. Thanks for the advice

Seems to be no issues with the connections

Stripped out the steering column to find the switch wrapped with cable ties. Obviously been an issue previously! The multi plug seems well connected. Just waiting for the new one now......

I have found one on eBay from a breakers at a good price. Will try and test the existing one in situ though. Thanks for the help

Yes that's correct. 8 time out of 10 everything is normal and it fires up, with all the lights on.
