Hi Everyone, 1st post so bear with me.

Just purchased my second land rover a freelander 1 (2000) 2.0 xdi 5 Door
Over the past week, sometimes the vehicle turns over but does not fire up. Simuntaneously the dash lights (glow plug, abs, handbrake) do not illuminate.
Most times you can go to it, all the lights flash up and it starts on the button.
I do not think it is an immobiliser issues as the red led on the dash always goes off then the vehicle is unlocked.

With perseverance it sorts it self out, however its really annoying as there seems to be no pattern to it

Thanks in advance

So you open the car, get in, turn the key a couple of notches (not as far as start/crank) and the ABS self test and glow plug lights do not come on? You then turn the key further to start and the engine turns over but it does not fire?

I have found one on eBay from a breakers at a good price. Will try and test the existing one in situ though. Thanks for the help

Stripped out the steering column to find the switch wrapped with cable ties. Obviously been an issue previously! The multi plug seems well connected. Just waiting for the new one now......
