    Dave Smith's Freelander

Looking at the two sheared ends of the bolt show that the bolt has largely been cracked through for ages. Got the seals out today. They were pretty well glued in with sealant. Took abuse with a claw hammer but I won. Waiting for a socket to get the diff flange off.

Is it worth trying an Easy Out or am I more likely to end up with a snapped, hardened steel, nightmare?

Spare time today so I fitted my MuddyMods clutch slave bracket to replace the bendy, rusty thing that was there. Time to attack the rear diff. Absolutely no joy getting the oil seals out - really hard to hold the diff when it is out of the car. Thought I'd swap the mounts. Side ones no real...

Does L322 use same air springs as BMW X5?

Pretty sure Storey Wilson had a video on YouTube showing how to strip and rebuild a strut.

    Question About Plastic Trim

Is that not just making the problem worse in the long run by drawing more oil out of the already dried out plastic? I suppose it depends on whether your vehicle has a long run left in it...

    Question About Plastic Trim

Boiled linseed oil works well and saves you standing in the road smearing your car with food.

Well in the end I visited my new, local (and maybe a bit dodgy) secondhand power tools emporium. Picked up an 18V Milwaukee with battery and charger cheap. Love it. Inspired me to get off my backside and get back on with it. Rotten sidesteps removed which makes it look better. Next thing I'd...

Can anyone recommend a good, battery powered impact? I have a big 240V Clarke impact wrench but it's only good for certain things because 1) cable 2) big and 3) b@st@rd heavy. Looking for something that's good to speed up the day to day stuff.

    Freelander 1 Stereo advice

Mine has a single DIN slot, so no. At least not without some creativity. Not sure about facelift models.

    Freelander 1 Propshaft help

'For fuel reasons' often doesn't mean that. Have a search on here for the One Wheel Up Test and do it as soon as you can to check the viscous coupling in the prop. If it has seized then running with it fitted can lead to a big bill.

BUt then I'll get used to it and regret buying the world's cheapest temperature sensor!

From what I can tell there hasn't been an undershield on there since I was a boy :) Probably explains how the filter got so welded on in the first place.

I am now oil-tight. I will swap the mount back next time I drop the oil though as it looks stupid.

Not yet; spent the weekend darn sarf with my old mum as it was her birthday. This coming weekend looks promising though.

I have ordered a cheapo aftermarket oil temperature sensor for a TF. Makes no sense money-wise but I'm curious now.

For future reference that plug part number is for the first, smaller, hole. I shan't dick around any more - I'll swap the parts back when I return from a week in the sun.
