    I've have got an oil leak on my defender 200 tdi.. I've replaced the cam and crank oil seal.... Still a constant drip from wading plug Engine running with cover off oil appeared to be running out the tensioner bolt hole... Timing casing off, looks like it's running out of the the screw...

    So, this weekend I bought. A disco 200 tdi for my dead defender 200 tdi. I though I'd list the things you need to consider to save people the problems I've faced. 1st you need to swap the clutch housing over so the disc engine will bolt straight to the defender box. And swap the disco engine...

    If the pump has been tweeted you should get thick black smoke under heavy acceleration. Grey smoke could be oil being burnt check inside the air filter pipes and the turbo hoses for traces of oil. Take the engine breather pipe of if the engine is breathing heavy you may need to re ring it.

    Thanks for the replies. Big hammer is standard in my tool kit. I'm keeping the other engine it's completely stripped down. Going to get it all cleaned up and plan to get the block sorted in time. I've had the head skimmed and pressure tested and the injectors tested.
