Who has put in a radar detector..need wiring advice

Not sure if you guys in the UK can have radar detectors, but here in the US (well except Connecticut and Virginia) they are completely legal. Anyway, I want to hardwire it so it comes on when the ignition is in either position 2 or 3. The detector comes with it's own kit which makes it very...

    Power steering groan

Steering damper is new, and this problem unfortunately occurred both before and after. Though it has gotten much worse over the last couple days, probably something to do with me towing a good bit of weight in a trailer.

    Power steering groan

Good idea, I didn't realize it was a relatively simple process. I will try that first!

    Power steering groan

Hi all, I have a 2002 4.6 HSE with 67,000 miles (US). I have an awful grinding noise that I can feel through the steering wheel. The fluid is topped up to the correct position. It occurs when: -Only when the engine is warm -Only when making a right hand turn -Only at a low speed or while...

Teak cargo area in a p38

Yeah I suppose I should change the title of my thread, but I just figure with all of these spare parts laying around and extra CHERRY flooring, it might look really great. I have studied the pictures of the Autobiography, however after trying to lay it out roughly tonight, I cant seem to figure...

Teak cargo area in a p38

Have some extra cherry flooring laying around, and enough extra interior parts where I can do it all outside of the truck and simply place it in my car after it is finished without destroying the car if it doesn't go well. I think it looks really nice in the Autobiography...what do you guys think

Oops..was running around with no alternator ground

Not sure if it is a replacement but it does say Land Rover on it(Bosch unit as well). Yes it is a 4.6. As far as the ground, there is a dedicated post on the top right that goes to a large body ground shared with the negative terminal on the battery. The strap was not connected to the alternator.

Oops..was running around with no alternator ground

Shop forgot to install it... I quickly noticed it after the whole debacle with my temperature gauge. There is a 5 page thread on that. But now I'm wondering if running around without the main ground strap on the alternator connected is somehow at fault? The alternator is putting out 14.5 volts...

    New here: Temp gauge failure

No one has anything here local...would have be shipped. I will most likely be ordering one online and waiting a week or so for it to show up (which is why I normally refuse to shop online:rolleyes:)

    New here: Temp gauge failure

Another bump...at a complete loss here. The shop is on very good terms and local to Atlantic British, a major LR parts provider for the entire U.S. They spoke and AB's tech team was just as stumped as everyone else. This is most frustrating by the fact that other people seem to have this problem...

    New here: Temp gauge failure

BeCM has been swapped as well as two coolant sensors. There is only one possible part number for the sensor, and it was right both times. As far as the readings, when I plug diag. In I can watch coolant temp rise and lower. It was showing anywhere from 87-97 degreesC. Or maybe that was just a...

    New here: Temp gauge failure

Interesting. All earths have been checked, please see the rest of this trhead. The only time the gauge works is when it is plugged into diagnostics. Otherwise, when ignition is on or truck is running, the needle will move a quarter inch off cold into the blue lines and remain there. The red...

    New here: Temp gauge failure

Would interference be a cause for gauge malfunction even though the wires to the cluster are receiving the proper voltage? What could cause interference? An exhaustive Google search shows this is a very common problem, but no one ever updates their posts with the solution or fix if one was ever...

    New here: Temp gauge failure

Thanks for the offer...hopefully I'll have it fixed by then. At the other poster...what is the reason for scoping the wires? If they have normal voltage/resistance/etc. what would we be looking for?
  15. S

    New here: Temp gauge failure

What do you mean by scoping? I know they have followed the wires from the coolant sensor to the ECM then to BECM and up to dash, and all the wires checked out good, including grounds. The wires to the dash are actually two power wires, and the ground must be in the harness somewhere. Kind of...

    New here: Temp gauge failure

Hi guys...this will be the final update before I install a digital temp gauge. So far, the shop has changed out the cluster, ECM, BECM, and tested all wiring. Everything was swapped from a truck that runs and is driven daily. All wiring measures out, and the most frustrating thing is that we are...

    New here: Temp gauge failure

Is the radiator temperature sensor worth checking in to? Could a fault here disable or otherwise tamper with the temperature gauge?

    New here: Temp gauge failure

Well that's a good question, I'm not sure the shop is closed now...they both came from Atlantic British, a major parts provider here in the States. They only list one sensor for my specific truck on the website so I imagine if they had the wrong sensor listed I wouldn't be the only one with...
