P38A Unrepairable EAS fault after side steps fitted?

This is the usual fault list when the comms are not correct, do you have a good (green) idle ? if not try changing your comm port or as mentioned, the OBD port or the wiring in the kick panel. I would try the comm port first. See upper left on the photo where it shows "Good Idle"

P38A Unrepairable EAS fault after side steps fitted?

+1 with you Keith, bad comms, when you are using EASUnlock do you get a good idle (green rather than red)

P38A Dunlop EAS Compressor ANR 3731-SLP

Personally I wouldn't, you will void the warranty for one and as you say, things may go wrong as per Murphy's first law of P38 tinkering ;)

P38A Dunlop EAS Compressor ANR 3731-SLP

I Succumbed and bought a new one! So I currently have 2 rebuilt, 1 on the car, 1 on the bench and now a new one on the way. I have a brand new driver pack, new height sensors (Dunlop) and a fully tested valve block. As soon as it gets warm again I am going to be tinkering again even though the...

P38A Unrepairable EAS fault after side steps fitted?

The bag can separate from the end cap if it is jacked with the bags hanging at access, ask me how I know.......... If you are at standard height it is usually ok, best to jack under the axle as previously mentioned. I always make sure the car is at standard height nowadays and so far no problemo

P38A Unrepairable EAS fault after side steps fitted?

Just what I was going to say, unless it is an actual garage that works on P38s that is basically what their diagnostics will say because they won't be able to read the P38's EAS stuff. +1 on bypass kit but probably EASUnlock will reset the faults. If it is what happened on mine a few years ago...

    P38A Grubby tail lights

They cannot be separated unfortunately, the one thing to watch is that very often the double ended bolt/screw is very rusty (usually the visible one) the nut usually shears the bolt bit. You can extract the screw in bit and use a self tapper, I bought some spare fixings coz I'm a tad fussy..........

    P38A Grubby tail lights

Same process as cleaning the tail lights, the little weep holes in them get blocked and they get moss or mould growing inside, as with my tail lights my numberplate ones are back to new. A few years back I actually had an MOT fail notice because there was not sufficient illumination to the...

    P38A Grubby tail lights

I cleaned mine the same way as Keith is suggesting, soak the inside with Fairy liquid and shake them vigorously. I made some thin long strips and wrapped cloth on the end to do the hard bits, then blow with an air gun to get the bits in the edges out. Mine are back to brand new now. Even if you...

    P38A EAS Compressor Kits - X8R vs 4x4AirSeals

Hi Keith, that was what I thought originally but the one I am running at the moment has done 4yrs so far, when you install the flat one it forms to the cup shape and seems to give a much better fit/seal. They supply a tool (of sorts) to install it correctly so that it forms the right shape

    P38A EAS Compressor Kits - X8R vs 4x4AirSeals

I just looked into my box of bits and it appears that the piston rings from both suppliers look the same as far as I can see, they are both the flat version with no cup shape and the materials seem the same too

    P38A EAS Compressor Kits - X8R vs 4x4AirSeals

I had this thought the other day and I am sure someone must have tried it. If you were to get a standard large capacity suspension compressor, wire it from the loom of the P38s and then tee into the old compressors outlet would that not fool the system into believing it was filling the tank from...

    P38A EAS Compressor Kits - X8R vs 4x4AirSeals

I've used both, TBH could not really judge one against tother, the only thing I thought when buying was the extra items that the X8R set comes with and the cylinder seemed a tad better. I have a couple of chrome steel cylinders that I have had for a while so I haven't had to use either sellers...
