    Steering reservoir leak

The seal is good. It's not overfilled, I'm told the fluid washes around a lot when in use therefore it needs a good seal. I'm thinking, because it's been 'buggered', the thread underneath does not hold shape either. If someones used grips on this (it looks that way), then the thin metal will...

    Steering reservoir leak

My 1985 Landrover 90 steering reservoir leaks. This is the old metal type that looks way too big and is bolted to the inside RH of the engine bay. Clearly the lid leaks as fluid is sitting on top inside the outside lip. I'm told by a reliable source that it's normally down to people over...

    Heater blower

An update and closure, thanks to all who replied and explained some things. I took it out the weekend, stripped it and the motor did not turn at all. Checked the resister, that was good. Stripped the motor down to the core, it was a mess, cleaned it, greased it in the right places. Knocked...

    Heater blower

OK, might be worth checking that out first, I can get to that without removing the whole thing, but of course, if I don't see anything it all has to come out. I'm guessing it's a jammed motor but could be the reisister. when I checked it did nothing on level 1 speed, that means the resister...

    Heater blower

That small plate riveted down, what's under that. Is there something I can check there before taking out the whole thing? It might be something simple like a shorted wire.

    Heater blower

One of the jobs I want to quickly do on my recently bought 85' 90 is get the heater blower working. Checked the fuse today, it's blow, fitted a new one, it blew. Checked the wiring going to the heater box in the corner on top of the bulkhead, all the wiring looks good and it does not blow...

    Weber replacement

OK, I'm going to get a barrage of abuse I suspect, anyway, I kinda know what I'm gonna do but thought I'd throw this out there. Issue; My recently purchased 84 Land Rover 90 with it's 2.25, petrol engine (yes it is a 2.25, not the 2.5), has a weber carb ( I believe to be the 34ICH), and it...

    Bonnet sound proofing

That's interesting, may go for that if I can't find the felt. Mine has the rubbers, but the glass is loose.

    Bonnet sound proofing

for previous classics it's a similar thing, sure it knocks a bit of noise off but mainly stops rattles and that tin sound a bit. Let me be clear, I'm running without it and will be until I find something that fits my budget, so I'm not that fussed about it. Before that, I need to find the felt...

    Bonnet sound proofing

Stunning. don't think I'll ever get to your level. I have a list of things to do though, so maybe one day I will.

    Bonnet sound proofing

Indeed, it's a 90, but yeah. I hear you, it's not my first classic car.

    Bonnet sound proofing

That is a great job there. I'm reluctant to stick stuff down again after getting all that sticky stuff off, but it may be the only option. I'll keep searching for now. Out of interest, I assume none of it has peeled off in the heat...if it's seen any heat that is.

    Bonnet sound proofing

Yes, I've used this in various places on my classic car, but not under the bonnet. Needs glue that can withstand heat. I can imagine a hot summers day in traffic, it's gonna get toasty under there, so dynamat or anything that glues on it s a no IMO.

    Bonnet sound proofing

This is the way it will stay until I decide to get something that looks nice. Sure the old petrol engine, whilst gutless, it's fairly quiet and it's no real issue. My old 65 Singer has a basic sound proofing under the bonnet, does not really need it, just helps a bit. I'll keep an eye out but...

    Bonnet sound proofing

Firstly a big 'THANK YOU', to the previous owner who thought it a good idea to stick this **** under the bonnet of my latest 1984 90 purchase. 2 AA cards with a heatgun and 2 hrs of elbow grease later and it's off, who said the AA was useless! When I picked the car up a few weeks ago, I drove...

yeah it's a carry over from the series engine, mines 1984. but it's more than good enough for me, don't plan to do many long journeys. It'll be local trips only. they designed a diesel engine but used it for petrol, that makes it quite a strong engine.

Turns out the fan is not working, so I'll be looking at that one day or dark evening. It is the 2.3 or 2 1/4 petrol engine. turns out the vin is showing it as a 1984 manufactured. So I've applied for the historic doc from gaydon.

Yup, I know what will happen though. I'll get her up on the lift and find a ton more things to do.

The list, after 1 week... New brake reservoir as the old ones got cracks in it. Because the brake fluid is dark in colour, I may flush it all out and replace master, look at seals on brakes at same time. Steering rod needs nipping up (I'll have her up on my ramp this weekend to do that and...

Yes, the flaps were great at demisting, unlike the super powerful asthematic mouse blower for the heater.
