Latest odd goings on here yesterday - several vehicles went along the track and disappeared into a dip past a house further up, but didn't reappear the other side. Then one came the other way and didn't reappear our side of the dip and since one of them was the Guardia Civil our interest was...

Sorry if it's been covered already but I think you can use outlook to access an existing email account without changing the name/address.

Yes. So far it's cleaned up quite nicely which is why I initially said it's not as bad as it looks. Don't know what all that crud was but there was loads of it, perhaps carbon deposits which had fallen off after getting damp. Still turns over and the other valve opens and closes, loads of...

I had a car that started doing something like that quite spectacularly once so I did a Microsoft service, i.e. uninstall the engine and install another one I had standing by.

Looks a bit like it. It is quite old and had a couple of issues when it still worked but it would be a shame to ditch it because its dual voltage. It was a bit like Terry McCan's taxicab in Come in T64, your time is ticking away... in that it seemed to use almost as much oil as petrol

Hope everyone had a good bank holiday weekend last weekend. This week seems to have sped by, I've spent a lot of it breaking up a concrete floor which has been hard going even with power tools. I can only describe the appearance of it as I progress as reminding me of the calving of icebergs...

Evenin' (well, night...) I was going to say greetings from Portugal but have this annoying habit of not writing things while they are still relevant. So having completed fitting a shower door there we're back in Spain now. Weather dull and cold, drizzle tonight. The power cut on Monday was...

Been bldy cold here too, 4° at night, that's cold for here and not usual for late March.

I do like a nice fire. My incinerator is my favourite garden implement and when using it I always chuckle about how much my father in law would hate it. Probably need to heap a load of stuff up and have a big burn up before it gets too dry/hot to do that, it can take too much time in the...

Ours chases things but doesn't catch things much, likes the odd lizard (gecko). Often chases leaves, fluff, shoelaces, other cats etc. When clearing up the rat found a beheaded snake which also went on the shovel to be chucked, thought he'd eaten the head but by chance shovelled that up too so...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Bought some lead substitute additive for it. The lady in the petrol station was interested to hear what I was buying it for, I don't think they sell very much of it.

I must say I don't really know either, I'm just aware of it and I've seen that it gets eaten away after a while. I think you're right in that the anode will degrade in preference to the tank. Our water probably is a bit alkaline, in our case I think the anode is still called an anode though.

We don't really know the exact reason but there was some kind of issue which resulted in an 'infraction' early on which is the kiss of death. She's been fighting it in the courts for about 15 years. There's been two lorries up and down the track all day taking the rubble away and there's still...

Looks in very good nick, you could buy a full sized spare wheel for it. I hate those small spare wheels, especially on a big car.

Our cat earned his keep today, he caught a rat. I did take a picture of it but it's not a very nice thing to post... He's only 7 though, we thought he wasn't bothered about mice and rats because whining for more brekkies is easier, seeing as he's obsessed with them. I'm sure they put cocaine...

Interesting that your water is that soft. Ours is incredibly hard and we have to have sacrificial anodes as well and they do get eaten away - every couple of years I used to drain down our 150L heater tank and bucket out about 30kg of scale which had built up. Hopefully that will not be...

Yes, more angry I think. It is a long story, quite complicated I think but she's been through the courts, exhausted all avenues and ended up with a criminal conviction on top of it all. We're not sure of the full details but something went wrong early on, well before the statute of...

Yes its ion exchange so the hardness ions are replaced by salt ions. I was quite disappointed when we first started using it, you should see the state of the kitchen sink (stainless steel). I should have realised that sparkling clean was unlikely. At least the pipes and appliances aren't...

When we got a water softener I thought great, we can wash the car at home now, previously banned as the scale left behind could only be removed using that scale cleaner that makes it fizz... The softener isn't great for that, although now not permanent hardness it still leaves a scaly residue...
