I'm repairing mine now and the n/s was in pretty poor condition. Not sure how much refurbed ones are but once you buy all the bits (door posts, vent panels, foot wells etc), get it shot blasted and galvanized, then factor your time in probably not far off buying one already done!

Not hard just daft! but I work outside anyway and have plenty padding.

Winter months is great time for a project - might be cold but makes you work harder:) I part striped mine to do bulkhead and another few jobs. Chassis is holed which could be repaired, but thought as I have part striped just to carry on and re-chassis. So been researching over the summer months...

^^ what he said. Piece of same thickness on a bench and start on lowest setting and wire speed half way. Work away from there moving up the amperage and changing the wire speed. Make sure to work piece doesn't get too hot as it will require less amps.

I'm currently repairing bulkhead and was going to have it galvanized until I started removing sections to find a lot of surface rust underneath. So plan now is to remove any surface rust that I can access, paint inside where possible with some corrless paint, then paint and wax oil through holes...
