You must have a posh defender. My wipers only have 2 settings. Very slow and slow. A flick up gives me single wipe. My guess would be a connection/switch problem at the stalk as all your normal wiper work, so the fault must lie there. Connections probably need a clean.

Have you checked the fluid? They need the levels checked and topped up regularly. I check mine every 6 months. As it happens, I've checked it today and my reverse switch has fallen out so I've got a fair leak, so I expect mine will need a decent topup.

Can you move the actuator with mole grips? It should be very stiff.

I think I had to trim a little off the end of the rod to be able to shorten it enough.

Mine smokes because it had already been tuned before I fitted the pin, but I didn't know at the time.

All I did was fit pin. Fit the larger supplied spacers to reduce smoke. Dialled back the starwheel to reduce smoke. I adjusted the wastegate until I had 1 to 1.1 bar at full boost under load. I may have has to add some extra threads to the actuator. I can't remember as it was years ago...

You won't need a week. You will notice the improvement immediately and half an hour if messing about on different hills etc will give you all you need to know!

Well mine smokes like a good un if I put my foot down in the wrong gear etc, so it's getting plenty of fuel :)

I thought the fuel pin also influenced max fuel?

Re boost adjustment, I think I went right to the end of the adjustment on mine. I might have even added more thread. I can't remember properly now, it was a long time ago.

From a purely selfish point of view, I would be interested to know if you try the pin first then see if you notice any improvement when fitting the ring. Mine is currently tuned with a boost pin. Boost is showing at 1-1.1 bar on gauge.

Ian, are you running a 200 or 300 TDI and do you already have a boost pin/tuned pump? I'll be watching for your review :)
