    It could well be a transponder, I have managed to solder it back on and all works fine now. I think I will send for a new key when I can afford it just in case.

    The old fob was only held together by cellotape, so all I did was cut the tape and a small blue square piece fell out. What do I have to do now, buy a new fob from Land Rover. What sort of price are we looking at.

    I have bought a new refurbish kit to replace the old scruffy one. While dismantling the old fob a small blue square piece fell off. I have another key from another car, can I use the iners in my new one and will i be able to sync it as normal.

    Found the problem, one of the plugs on the becm was not fully engaged. All works now, starts, fob locks & unlocks dash lights work. Thank you all for your help.
