Its a sweet engine mate. Honest!

Forgive my ignorance but pistons in wrong bore what do you mean by this? Understand the heads are mismatched but why does that make the rest of the engine scrap? Mick

what V8 engine variant do i have?

You may find the snorkel stops the lpg working right. I have a 90 with LPG and a snorkel when the snorkel is installed I find it stalls at junctions, fine without it. Mick

    which one is the best

The problem you have with the 3.5 is its pretty gutless in a large vehicle like a landrover. 3.9 is a nice compromise cheap enough to buy with reasonable power. I have a 1998 90 which had a 3.5 in it was okay with standard tyres but a bit down n power with 34 inch tyres. So I put in a 4.2 I had...

    which one is the best

A fair few people refer to the slipped liner problem on the RV8 but how many have suffered from it. I have had 2x 3.5 2x 4.2 and 1 3.9 and have never had a slipped liner problem there are thousands of 3.9 and I hear the odd slipped liner. As far as I am aware the 4.6 in the p38 was most prone...

    L322 key won't re-program

Why do you need to reprogram the key so many times? I've had a l322 for 4 years and never needed to reprogram. Was the key faulty and has now expired? Mick

    1988 V8 90 Non A/C to A/C

When I bought it wasn't working and I use mine offloading quite a bit the air on radiator was getting blocked. I changed the engine to a 4.2 and didn't bother fitting the compressor. I still have the bits I case a future owner wants to refit. Mick

    1988 V8 90 Non A/C to A/C

I have a 1988 air con V8 90 although I have removed most of it. The dash is different and it doesn't have front flaps on the bulk head. The heater box is different and then there is air con radiators and fans and a compressor. Probably more but that's all I can think of. Mick

V8 carb , multi point LPG system?

You could of coupe change your inlet to a efi system from a 3.9 range rover not as difficult as you may think. Then you could fit multipoint injection. Mick

Dizzy cap firing order 3.5 v8

You cannot place the firing order from the dizzy cap clips. It all depends where you have installed the dizzy everyone's number one from the clip could be different. Number one cylinder (front right)must be at top dead centre and on the firing stroke, where the rotor arm is pointing line up...

3.5 into p38 (ex- 4.6)- would it work?

Why not just replace the piston rings? Physically I would think it would fit don't think it's been done before whether the fuel injection would cope with the smaller engine is questionable and with a heaven beast like a P38 it would be very slow. IMHO Mick

    Lpg problem

Yes there is the safety relay that shuts off the solonoid valves I have been talking on the LPG forums apparently its common when stalling the excess gas makes starting difficult. Starts normally okay Mick

    v8 disco 2 4.0 p0340 fault code

Wow you have certainly been swooping parts, very unlikely a camshaft sensor would give that problem in my opinion what is the lpg system? The fact it is on lpg and petrol must rule out a most of the petrol system. What type god lpg system is it? Have a look at the LZ rescue there could be...
