The Big Debate - Britpart or S**tpart?

Border Holdings (U.K.) Ltd, trading as Britpart have a market value of £57M!!!! That I believe gives them the biggest part of the Land Rover parts market. For 15 years I've been using their stuff and had no problems. As I put in another post, it's just statistics, if your the largest...

    Are britparts that bad ?

I've been using Britpart on mine for the last 15 years, no issues. It's a case of statistics that cause so much bad press... Britpart are probably the largest supplier of Land Rover parts and therefore they will have the larger portion of complaints. It's just numbers. I'm also sure a large...

    SU to efi plumbing question

I plumbed everything in series in the end, runs as follows: Water pump, vaporiser, heater, engine. Much better warm up times, and the heater is a lot hotter.

Which type of sound deadening insulation is best

Best way I ever found to quieten my S3 down was to remove the roof.... You wouldn't credit just how much noise that keeps in. I can drive along without the roof and listen to the birds singing in the hedge. So it may be worth soundproofing things that reflect the noise as well as those in it's...

    SU to efi plumbing question

Hi John, how are you getting on with this? You've seen the picture of my 3.9 EFI, BLOS set-up. is it clear enough what is routed where? For me it was a case of make it up as I went along to get everything to fit. It's a bit tight in a series engine bay so I put the EFI Plenum cover on back to...

    UK government scrappage scheme

If it was close to me I'd be tempted to just get chassis number etc and apply for the V5 stranger things have happened with the disconnected DVLA. It will show as scrapped so they will want to inspect it, but I doubt it will show anything else on their records.

    Side panels

I've got 110 Station Wagon sides on my 88" It never even occurred to me there would be a difference, guess I was just lucky. As it is I've now sourced a pair of original series SW sides.

    Front panel measurement needed

This would be perfect, I'd only need it for a few hours, I've PM'd you my location and number. Cheers Nath

    Front panel measurement needed

Hello Folks, I'm trying to rebuild a series 3 front panel that's rust free but had the top cut off for a defender conversion. Not by me I may add. I'm after A, B, and C (Left edge of slam panel, Centre of complete panel, Right edge of slam panel) dimensions on the below picture (not mine, taken...

LPG mpg equivalent to petrol mpg

Just worked it out on mine and I'm getting about 14mpg on LPG pottering about the place, in a 3.9 88" series 3. Sure that makes it cheaper to run than the Diesel equivalent.

    Oil cooler hoses

I have a Disco 1 3.9 V8 engine (the crossover one with serpentine flat belt and distributor) fitted to my 88" Series 3, I would like to fit a Disco 300TDI rad. Are the oil cooler hose fittings the same at each end for the following? V8 PBP101150 & PBP101160 300TDI PBP500190 &...

    MOT and speedometer

I once put a car in for MOT with two speedo's, long story, but once I'd told the inspector which mileage to use all was fine :-)

    Replacing Stromberg carbs for SU

Strombergs rely on a rubber diaphram, SU's rely on engineering tollerance, I'd choose SU's every time.

Switching from 2x35mm mixers to 2xblos variable mixers.

It would also help if you could some how use engine vacuum to lift completely out of the way the SU needle and plunger, then only the butterfly of the SU would be in the air flow, just like an EFI Manifold. It may be possible to drill and tap the SU upper housing and attach via a solenoid an...

Switching from 2x35mm mixers to 2xblos variable mixers.

1 BLOS is sufficient for the 3.9/4.0 Serp engines, so should be pleanty for a 3.5 This is my old series 3, this is an LPG only machine, no ECU, injectors are in there just to plug the holes. Starts no issue at -5°C. I'm using an OMVL R90e as feed to the BLOS, and a free flow air filter, no...

    welding gas

I couldn't be bothered with all the messing, I've had an account with Air Products for years and just rent a half size bottle, it even come's with a built in regulator so no need to worry about that either. From memory it's about 85% Argon, 15% CO2, no issues, just plug in and use, lasts ages...

    lpg tank blow off

As said above vehicle LPG tanks have a level valve that shut's off when the tank is full (80%). It's just the same valve set-up as in your toilet cistern, was the vehicle level when fuelling, who fitted the tanks?

    Stick on Number Plate

So does this mean motorbikes and most tractors are immune from ANPR cameras? (No front numberplate)

45mm+ LPG mixer. where can I get one?

It may be easier to fit an efi inlet rather than cobble together a y piece. On the other hand two BLOS carbs would work perfectly. cold starting is not an issue.

Single cylinder misfire - 3.5 on SU

Great news, colour tune plugs are a good diagnostic tool, and well done for finding the vacuum leak. :clap2:
