    TD4 Crankcase Filter

Hi - that is very strange mine went in perfectly. You don't use any parts of the original filter or its housing - the new unit has a small plastic cone type affair in one side and a valve in the other. It should screw down without adjustment unless somewhere along the line the engine has been...

Was in the Lakes this weekend and the doors didnt fall off.

Miine suffered having to drive through the floods in /around east yorkshire and hull. I started with 3 doors and dry feet and i finished with 3 doors and dry feet! No problems at all providing you are sensible, keep revs up in a low enough gear and make a nice bow wave!

    whistling at 2500 rpm

Is it whistling noise you have or one that sounds like an air leak (phssssssssst type sound) on acceleration and lack of power? This could be intercooler hose leaking.

    Scanners

Spot on! No faults on mine that I know of but I've got my bid on - once I know it works (hopefully) I'll create a few errors by unplugging things! Mind - think i'll try on work van first!

    Changing power steering pump

I have heavy (er) steering on mine at tickover - i just give it a few revs and whack the wheel round sharpish! I guess one day the pump will give up. Does yours have a sort of rough sound from the drive belt system that shuts up when its warm? I'm thinking that it was me water pump...

    freelander advice

I bought a 2000 (X) reg and to be fair don't mind repairing things when they go wrong - its more fun than watching telly ne ways and its a good excuse for having to buy nice new shiny i really must have it tools! So far nothing what I would call major mechanical - changed oil and filter, fuel...

how to adjust the handbrake on a gaylander

:D Joking apart make sure you follow the instructions to the letter or you'll end up with binding brakes. Oh...and make sure if you decide to change the rear shoes that you route the cable correctly for the handbrake. Mine was an interesting one - when I bought it it had a full years...

    TD4 Crankcase Filter

No I won't be fitting and forgetting BUT the original was probably badly named as 'filter'. The original was that coarse it would not filter any particles from your oil - it is a breather only which reduces the build up of pressure in the crank case forcing oil out where ever it can - through...

    1999 1.8 freelander undertray

Just my joke I took it off, 2 oars, nice boat! Seriously it was useful in the flooding - you didn't know what you were going to hit bobbing around so it did exactly what it is designed to and offered some protection. Never really had a prob removing it - i changed all the bolts for new and...

    1999 1.8 freelander undertray

It may be a pain in the ass but mine served its purpose in the floods around hull last summer - it makes a lovely raft!

    What A Piece Of **bleep**

if alternator overcharges then it may have fried battery - therefore battery useless. had the same with my TD4 last winter. I drove it up me ramps in the garage to check out how the FBH worked and wired up a bypass to make it run without the temp switch. Engine not running. Got fed up and...
