OMG... my td4 is really P!$$!NG me off.... bloody thing just clicks when i turn the key now...any idears, it started off with the lights on the dash comming on and the clocks not working, now the darn thing just clicks when i turn the key to start it, i had a new starter 6 months ago, a new alternator 3weeks ago along with new belts...
I've never had so much trouble with a car in all my driving life gonna get it done and flog it on...
dont get me wronge i love the car when its running good but this thing just takes the mick....:mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

Hey Sami.... Calm.. Calm.. Calm doon, dis soons tu me like a
simple fing, first check-out tu battry terminals fu good contact, and
jus tu point out, jus cus ta av new parts (altinater) dont meen tu say
its ok! i had one fitted on tu car un it was usliss:confused:
other thun that, yoo av a dodgy wire contact seek out a electrical
engineer to trace tu fult:(
I find 9times out ov 10 its usly somfin so simple(stupid);)
 
well i think it was me LR key... lol...
not the battery tho as this is new to and just tested it ....god this is drivin me mad, just gona get towed up to the garage where i had the altinator done to get them to check its not that...
 
just got a call from the garage, they have said the alternater was OVER charging!!! any idears as to why cos i dont want to be charged an arm and a leg for them to try and find out why??
 
if alternator overcharges then it may have fried battery - therefore battery useless.

had the same with my TD4 last winter. I drove it up me ramps in the garage to check out how the FBH worked and wired up a bypass to make it run without the temp switch. Engine not running.

Got fed up and disconnected everything and went to start and click click nothing.

Battery was fubar'd (it was the original and 8 yrs old so can't really moan)

One new battery later and no problems since.

If your alternator was overcharging and you can prove then try getting a new battery out of the garage you took it to!
 
WELL that is me intention as it cost me a little over £300 for the new altiranter 3 weeks ago and the battery was fine, so they can pay for a new 1 as it was them that put a faulty altirnater in that caused the battery to fry!!! i'll let you no how i got on.. they wana soon pull thier fingers out of there arse tho as i need it for the school runs...
 
hi all..just an update on my alternetor... i collected it from the garage today they replaced the alternator and battery free of charge...i've still got the dash board lights comming on and off and the clocks not working!! but i have noticed that if i give the center console a good bash it all works!!! lose wires maybe? what do you think?
