Disco 1 Any help on Broken half shaft/CV joint

Was driving home last Sunday, leaving Tesco car park and heard a clunk... lost all drive! Managed to get home with difflock on (only 1/4 mile), kept disengaging to try and minimise wind-up. So I’m sure it’s CV or half-shaft. Have removed front prop shaft and driven into town with difflock on...

    retro fit remote locking........

Zombie thread again... I’ve tried this wiring diagram with the white and white/black wires connecting to the pink and orange ones but it doesn’t work- any ideas?

For Sale Michelin 235/70R16 Lattitude Cross Tyres, SOLD.

Hi mate realised I’m not going to get time to get up to you for a couple of weeks- will let you know if I can. Don’t worry about holding on to them if someone else is interested, thanks!

    Too much play when steering

Yes will do. I torqued it up to setting in Haynes (176NM I think) and bent 2 tabs of the lockwasher on to it, so that should help.

    Too much play when steering

Zombie thread I know but thought I’d point out I had very vague steering until I checked this today on mine! I had tried adjusting the box to no avail, but it turned out the drop arm was loose! Tightened it up and bent locknut, now it’s like driving a different car. So nice when things are easy...

Disco 1 Audio upgrades- rear speakers

Ah that lead converter thing looks ideal. Was ideally after something with more bass in the back, hence the 6x9s, plus I have a couple of pairs lying around. Hadn’t thought of putting speakers in the roof- interesting idea!

Disco 1 Audio upgrades- rear speakers

I want some better sounds in my Disco 1. I’ve got the front speakers upgraded with some Alpines which fit and sound much better than original. I’d like to put some 6x9s in the back but none of them seem to fit in the pillars due to depth, or they’ll foul the seats when unfolded. Has anyone...

1992 200tdi Discovery- gradually improving my daily driver

Today’s jobs- acquire a rear wheel cover and get all the lights in the dash working!

1992 200tdi Discovery- gradually improving my daily driver

Word of warning- I bought one, used it but it sounded crap! The old cassette/mp3 cable thing sounds way better, although less high tech, so I’ve gone back to that. Maybe there’s a better quality one around on market?

Disco 1 Heater vacuum valve pipe thing

All fixed. Makes a satisfying “pssshhh” noise when activated now, which it didn’t before!

1992 200tdi Discovery- gradually improving my daily driver

Good call. I only noticed when I’d been running the heater for a bit and noticed a plastic-y smell...!

1992 200tdi Discovery- gradually improving my daily driver

That’s a good engineered solution! Like I say I’m pretty sure the motor in mine isn’t even from a Land Rover, but it fits fine and does the job. The motor I removed looked a bit like that- was completely seized solid. It’s all back together now, and I’ve wired the resistor in so it works at...

Disco 1 Heater vacuum valve pipe thing

    Ah! Great thanks.

Disco 1 Heater vacuum valve pipe thing

That sounds right, but any idea what the other end of the hose connects to?!

1992 200tdi Discovery- gradually improving my daily driver

I bought an entire heater box from EBay along with some dash spares. I dismantled the heater box with a view to moving motor over to mine, only to find it’s been hacked about- don’t think it’s the right motor fitted but it seems to work. No idea what motor it is but it’s certainly not the same...

1992 200tdi Discovery- gradually improving my daily driver

Today’s job was to do the heater motor. It had never worked since I had the car and I finally got round to starting it today. True to form it was a bugger of a job, whole dash had to come out. Lots of fun! I’d bought an entire replacement dash including heater box, which was handy as...

Disco 1 Heater vacuum valve pipe thing

I’m in the middle of changing my heater motor- such fun! When I removed the heater unit the rubber pipe from the valve on the side wasn’t connected to anything. Any ideas where it should go?

1992 200tdi Discovery- gradually improving my daily driver

Love it. Great to see another one surviving and earning its keep. Actually wish mine had the retro graphics on the side, but think they only put them on 3 doors.

Disco 1 200TDI Air con kit

Yeah, ideally someone would be breaking a 200tdi with air con so I could strip all the bits off, also then I’d see how they were originally fitted which would make it easier to fit to mine!
