Seat Riser rails and headrest removal?

On the quest to convert a 90 into a camper for two! Just wondering if seat riser rails will enabel me to push the drivers seat back far enough to fold flat - after removing the seat base? Have any of you with these seat risers ever tried this? I have an early TD5 with the single stem...

What are the pitfalls of buying a defender TD5

Every engine has it's pro's and con's.... TDi weak point was the timing belt, as I found to my cost!... currently running a TD5, 10P now on 115,000 miles... as easy to work on and service as my TDi, much more tuneable though.

    Defender 90 as Campervan

Drop down bed!!?? I've had an idea of building a bed frame that can clip up on to the internal gutter with mattress when not in use, and then lower down to rest at bulkhead level for sleeping... with some kind of flap (or folding dog guard) to level the area in front of the bulkhead where the...

    LED Conversion question.

While we're on the subject of LED's... I've just fitted a set from Bolt on Bits, and very impressed with the quality and ease to fit. Just a query over travelling on the continent... some countries require you to carry a spare set of bulbs - does that mean we/I now need spare LED's or would a...

    Td5 fuel problem

On the TD5 the fuel gauge is part of the fuel pump, and it all sits in the tank. You may have two problems linked to this unit. The fuel light may be linked to the faulty gauge, so you do actually have a full tank. The chugging could be due to fuel starvation... often it's just a case of...

    90 expedition storage thread

Have you considered one of those bulkhead lowering kits... not the bar type...I might do this to aid access from the front?

    slight judder at 70+ mph

Injector pump?.... or in tank fuel pump?.... There isn't an injector pump on the TD5, My in tank pump failed and I barely managed to limp home...new pump was required. Gunk in the fuel tank can block the gauze at the base of the fuel pump... I eventually put an access hole in the rear floor...

    TD5 Defender. Bad breaking

I had a bad braking experience in my 2001 TD5 a couple of years ago... turned out to be a cracked servo leaking vacuum... might be worth a look?

van anyone explain the 10P/15P thing to me?

15p is obviously the later model, and featured several improvements to overcome some of the problems encountered in the 10p model. I'm no expert, but from what I have read most of the changes were in the head, as injectors are different...metal dowels replaced nylon ones...egr set up changed...

    Which Diff fits?

Still searching... From what I can see diffs from 300TDi onwards have 24 splines and are basically all the same (Rover type)... does anyone concurr? My caution is that some diff guards specify 'post-2007'... was there a change to the axle casing rather than the diff itself at this point?

    Which Diff fits?

Just done a quick search, and couldn't find an answer: Will TDCi differentials fit earlier (TD5) vehicles?... I assume they are 24 spline and same 3.54:1 ratio.

    Horn and main beam flash

Typical... booked in for MOT on Monday... and now the bloody horn and light flasher has stopped working again! Any further pointers I could try?... Nickliv, did you fix it... if so how? Does MOT check for flash on headlights...as that might be my problem... might just replace the fuse and hope...

    Horn and main beam flash

I have just had the same symptoms on my 2001 TD5 90... First the fuse blew for the horn... finally found it under the drivers seat... swapped it around for the 30A HRW fuse - I don't have a HRW... Then flasher didn't work... blamed the switch... fitted new stalk... still no dice:mad...
