It's wired directly into a special port on my Garmin 2585TV. T.O.D, Lat/Lon, speed etc are all recorded and if played back using Garmin s/w, it plots the route etc on a map.

possible alternator problem and removal advice please

Jonny, it's simple. place a voltmeter across your battery terminals and rev the engine. You MUST obtain a minimum of 13.2v - 13.4v for the battery to maintain/charge.

possible alternator problem and removal advice please

Absolute minimum voltage across the battery when charging is 13.4v. A lead acid battery, at rest, would be between 12.4v and 12.8v. If the minimum charging voltage is not obtained from the alternator, the battery will simply lose it's charge.

    help! so many problems

Or go the the intro section, introduce yourself, where you're from, what Hippo do you have, engine, year etc and then maybe you'll get some advice. Courtesy costs nothing. AND also try the :search: box. There are probably no new faults on hippos, and they're all listed here.
