Ok advice taken. It feels as though one of the pawls is a bit loose and rattles as though it was sprung and now isn't. Ive oiled it all up today in anticipation of removal so will have a play and see if it frees up.

If its a deal clincher you could fit the extra seat and belt and have it IVA tested. Not a hard job for them as they would just check seat fixing and seatbelt installation with correct spreader plates etc.

Just to update I checked my spring rate as per the Bearmach catalogue and mine are not the full heavy duty so all good there> I have then fitted some 2" tuffback shocks and the banging has stopped, the ride is really good and all is well.

That would be logical I suppose; the springs can extend on rebound more than the shockers will allow?
