D2 Cutting out and starting issues

Sadly like me you spent a lot of money on a new fuel pump when the problem is most likely about 25 quids worth of injector seals and washers. The fuel pump like mine is probably whining due to the fact that air is entering the fuel rail through the copper washers on the injectors. Your symptoms...

    Disco 2 Fuel filter housing

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but your starting issues will almost certainly not be cured by changing those valves. Hopefully I will be proved wrong but they were one of the first things I changed when I had starting issues and made no improvement whatsoever. Another piece of advice is...

Disco 2 Gear lever bias springs and plate

Completed this job yesterday with the help of my neighbour, hardest part was getting the springs into position but even that wasn't too tricky. The upright part of the plate was cracked along the bend. The springs looked ok but I changed them anyway. Parts came to £10.79 so a cheap fix for a...

Disco 2 Gear lever bias springs and plate

Would some kind soul please give me the part numbers for the above as changing gear has now become very similar to my old camper van i.e. stirring a rice pudding:( Cheers Y

Starting issues - (have searched forum)

Not sure if it is relevant to a 300 but see thread "starting issues and cutting out"

Disco 2 Starting problems and cutting out

I suspect like me you have failed to change the cheapest item on your list which is the injector seals. The pump is probably noisy as it is trying to push air, mine was incredibly so until it built up pressure so it was changed - no difference. Replaced the air bleed valve - no difference...

Disco 2 Starting problems and cutting out

Ok, think I can help you with this one having gone through it myself and solved it with the help of various people in the know on here. Firstly is your oil level rising and smelling of diesel if so rubber O rings on injectors almost certainly the cause. Mine wasn't and I had starting issues...

    Disco 2 Part number

Thanks for that, is it a standard size as I don't think I will get one before Thursday now. Cheers Y

    Disco 2 Part number

Can anyone please tell me the part number for the copper sealing washer for the air bleed valve which screws into the fuel filter head? Cheers Y

Disco 2 starting issue now a running issue too

Oh well, changed the oil last Thursday although not the filter. Here we are Tuesday and it smells of diesel again. Totally peed off now as having already spent a Grand I'm guessing the head is knackered. The strange thing is that all the work already done has got her running perfectly again...

Disco 2 starting issue now a running issue too

Leomas, garage changed injector seals, loom and fuel pump so neither of us have any idea which was actually responsible although I think injector seals as per the learned members on this forum:) I intend to change the oil now anyway, could someone please direct me to the sump plug location...

Disco 2 starting issue now a running issue too

All genuine parts mate, have only driven it 3 miles since collecting it. It is only a whiff of diesel and as I said oil level not risen so hopefully not a problem? Cheers, Y

Disco 2 starting issue now a running issue too

Thanks for all your help people, got the old girl back today seems to be running ok after injector seals, loom and fuel pump replacement. Can't pinpoint exactly which one caused the problem but as per Sierrafery my money is on the washers. One small point, oil has a very slight whiff of diesel...

Disco 2 starting issue now a running issue too

Finally got it to a garage Monday 21st took 40 mins to do 4 miles died three times and I had to do the bleed routine every time. Been there ever since, went up today to see how they were doing and have been told they have had it out for a 10 mile run without any problems but the next day it died...

Disco 2 Removing fuel tank - easy?

That was how they did my fuel pipes. Carpet up and remove inspection cover. Was only charged two hours labour is apparently "a pig of a job" but no need to remove the tank.

Disco 2 Removing fuel tank - easy?

Mine was diagnosed with a leaking fuel tank but it turned out to be the fuel lines from the pump in the tank to the filter housing. If it leaks all the time probably is the tank but my money would be on the fuel lines which only leak when the pump is running. Cost for the line kit from LR is...

Disco 2 TD5 won't start - diesel leak under tank

Recently had mine done, if you go to someone who knows what they are doing it is not a tank out job just a bit fiddly. I was charged two hours labour (£108) plus part (£130) and 50 quid for recovery to garage.

Disco 2 starting issue now a running issue too

Thanks Peter/Mark for your replies. I will have it trailered to the garage I use and will print off the "how to" so they know what they are doing. Have already ordered genuine LR parts from Rimmers. Cheers, Y
