It was as ever a cracking weekend .....weather could have been fairer BUT improved over the weekend . Pie,peas and mash for 40 odd folks was a tad easier than pizzas from scratch in a wood fired oven lol . Laning was fab and folks all enjoyed themselves without anyone going home on a BYT thankfully

So last week's mission.... Take a bunch of series mad folks from seriouslyseries to North Wales and feed them steak pie peas and mash in a field whilst we all got drunk around a camp fire. Then a spot of laning the next day,...... Seemed to work ;-)

IF you have driven a series with well sorted steering on normal width tyres .... You may be surprised My 109 FFR with a narrow track behind is a doddle to handle ...even parking . 30/40 years of wear and poor maintenance with a dash of overwide modern tyres makes a world of difference.

Disabilities/injuries aside ....there isnt anything wrong with a well sorted series steering system . Worn box/idler/swivels/drive shafts/Daft wide tyres AND knackered TRE's will all contribute to making the steering heavy .... Adding power steering is just covering the problems up . Make sure...

Using the defender tunnel with a spot of trimming is a better option as you can then use the correct gaitor .... You 'may' have to trim the seatbox slightly to endure full operation of the hi/lo diff lock lever

I bought a second hand SP kit .... Not cheap BUT I've 5 series landrovers to repipe in the fulness of time, so SHOULD pay for itself .

Bear in mind though that the cheaper flaring tools will struggle to make a decent flare on Kunifer ....

Copper is fine IF it's clipped and supported properly ... IF it's left to flap about in the wind then yes it will 'Work harden'

Not that I can think of .....Some reckon that copper 'can' work harden and go brittle unlike kunifer ... never suffered it myself though as I've always made sure it was clipped properly

I much prefer the full fat lt77/series combo.... Full time 4x4 makes it very sure footed in the slippy.
