    Fuel Burning Heater

Well, our household kerosene tank might get raided:D. I am hoping that the webasto software will let me run the FBH with the engine off. I guess I would need to intercept the diesel feed to the ping pump. ?

    Fuel Burning Heater

According to the intel' I have gathered, once started the FBH runs until the engine coolant temperature is above a certain level or the alternator signal disappears. If your thermostat is lazy, and the engine never gets above 1/4 of its operating temperature, then I would expect the FBH to run...

Webasto FBH - Help me diagnose failure?

Have you seen this website, Page 6 the guy built his own webasto interface. I might have a go building one myself. -Hazel

Webasto FBH - Help me diagnose failure?

Oh, it seems I picked the wrong thread to reply to :) FBH = Fuel Burning Heater. Anyway I found a youtube clip of someone running a diagnostic program to 'burn' out the debris in the FBH. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK3AuiQWjAE The manual doesn;t have any symptoms, but it maybe my recently...

    Fuel Burning Heater

I guess you should be careful what you wish for. I removed the F5 fuse for 5 minutes exactly, and refit it. Went to get my lad from after school club, and I guess the temperature must have dropped as when I started the landy to come home, the FBH kicked in as we were leaving - wow that was a LOT...

    Fuel Burning Heater

Apparently I also have a FBH, but the mechanic couldn't get it to power up from the diagnostic computer. The computer said the FBH had a power interrupt fault logged, and he suggested the fuse may have been removed to save diesel. Later on I checked F5 in the engine compartment fusebox, it seems...

Anyone know how to program a remote fob?

Today I got my 3rd key fob programmed at Wicken 4x4, great service, and they let me watch while they did the alignment too. The programming took about 5 minutes, a hand held touch screen device was plugged into the passenger foot well, some menu options pressed, and the horn went, then each...

    cold start white smoke....again (sorry)

Just got back from the garage. I was talking to the mechanic there, and he said his personal diesel has done this exact thing ever since he has had it, which is 5 years. I don;t think it is anything to worry about, and will be very expensive to fix. Still annoying though.

    cold start white smoke....again (sorry)

If the sensor is a cheapy semiconductor NTC type, and it probably is, they usually fail by going open circuit at some cold temperature, and the ECU would be able to detect that. At least if I were writing the code for the ECU I would report out of range readings as a fault, as a dead sensor...

    cold start white smoke....again (sorry)

Hi Guys, I too have this "lumpy and smokey cold-start for 10 seconds" symptom on my MY2004 TD4. I replaced the crank breather filter yesterday, and there was no sign of any diesel around the injectors, all looked good. I must admit I have not been waiting for the glow plug symbol to go out...

Td4 Thermostat Replacement - The Way To Do It!

I thought I would bump this thread up. I ordered my TD4 thermostat from Island 4x4 yesterday at 3.30pm for £35.99 including p&p. 9.30am this morning it arrived , and is a genuine MG/Rover boxed one PEL100570LG. Just wanted to let people know how impressed I am with Island 4x4 . For comparison my...

Change the crankcase breather filter NOW!

I just did my breather filter 5 minutes ago. Fairly easy job apart from those funny star screws holding the injector harness in, they are in the bin and some #10 self tapping pozis added. My filter was very, very oily but not fully clogged in the middle, and the gaskets seemed fairly flexible. I...

Anyone know how to program a remote fob?

I'm going to Wicken 4x4 to get my spare fob programmed and the alignment checked on Wednesday. But for giggles I thought I would try the four step procedure with the bonnet switch. I tried it by having the driver's window down, bonnet up and me holding the bonnet switch down. First time, nothing...

    Smoke after Idle

Two weeks of ownership of MY2004 Freelander with TD4 140k miles. I was very careful that there was no smoke under any circumstance when I was looking for my freebie, so I was a bit worried when I saw some yesterday. While having the tyres changed, I took the opportunity to get a free alignment...

    td4 2004 weird things happening

Assuming you have only one fault ( maybe you have many), my money would be on something systemic, such as Battery, Alternator or battery connections. Perhaps something in that area was disturbed by recent work? I also have a 2004 TD4, and I'm working through my list of problems...

    Steering pulls to the left

Okay, So I spent a fortune getting a set of five tyres added, and now the thing pulls to the left a lot. Also the steering wheel is not straight. I presume the badly worn tyres that were previously on there were masking the alignment issue I have. Now the tyre shop can only do toe-in/out on the...

    Mudflap screws nightmare

Yes, plus gas is great if you can get it to the rusty bit, but it was all hidden away behing plastic bumpers and splash guards and stuff. Success! a few broken nails, and my hands are cut to ribbons, but I now have parking sensors. It turns out the harness in the bumper had chafed on the...

    Mudflap screws nightmare

Update: Of the 8 screws tried so far I have removed 2 using an 18v drill with a screwdriver attachement - I found you need low torgque setting, high speed then press trigger quickly. It seems the impact is what loosens some of them. 2 have been removed using the "dremel-like" cut off disc, which...

    Mudflap screws nightmare

OOoo clutch set low - hadn't thought of that. I will get the cordless on the side I haven't started to drill out (They have a few days of wd40 on them, didn't do much), and straight to dremmel on the other side. I would normally use the plumber's torch on stubborn screws, but in this case all...

    Mudflap screws nightmare

Hi guys n gals, I have a dead parking sensor on my facelift freelander. I managed to remove the small plastic wheel arch flares, but the next step, removing the mud guards is proving very difficult. The screws are rusted in solid, and my drill is not able to drill them out, New drill bits used...
