HB's 'Ooops I Put Too Much Veg Oil In' Fred

Yeah last post was a bit strongly worded perhaps. Don't get me wrong in this situation pre-heat is certainly nessesary and probably plenty of cranking! Re-reading his post he does imply it to this particular situation so i apologise for jumping the gun!! tom

HB's 'Ooops I Put Too Much Veg Oil In' Fred

"are you sure your glow plugs are working, your engine will simply not start without them," Ridiculous, diesel engines work on compression for the ignition of the fuel. The glow plugs are to heat the diesel to thin it down to aid starting when particulary cold - the more viscous the diesel the...

wrekon they cant weigh much more than 7kgs combined weight, could be wrong though, give paddocks a ring and ask or email them, they should be more than willing to tell you!!! tom

HB's 'Ooops I Put Too Much Veg Oil In' Fred

Quick fix to get ya going is - take fuel filter off, empty contents out (dispose of correctly), fill with just diesel, put filter back on and then try starting it. Should certainly get you home / to a fuel station to get your mix weakened down a bit!!! cheers tom

    Split Charge System

Having checked centre diff with two road wheels off the ground i beleive its fine. Only other option i can think of with regard to the metal on metal grinding noise, is the front diff and the pinion pushing the crown wheel away and shearing or slipping a couple of teeth?? cheers tom

    Split Charge System

Nah definately fine when driving normally, ill put a pic in with this an you'll see where i was. Rear passenger side wheel had no traction an was just spinning, neither of the fronts were spinning at all - hense thinking that the centre diff was fooked??? Strange? cheers tom

    Split Charge System

Cheers guys, that x-eng kit looks like the business, certainly sounds good anyway. Had a bit of a play on some age old dumped earth on the farm today, very good place for practicing. But unfortunately whilst on there and nearly stuck a horrible grinding / clunking noise occured and i lost...

    300tdi raised air intake

Yeah thats exactly what ive done, all connected into a manifold in the engine bay and one larger running to the underside of the wing top, drilled through and up the side of the snorkel to the underside of the snorkel top to prevent water running in. Another alternative and probably better is to...

    300tdi raised air intake

Ive siliconed mine up and never had any problems, thing is it was put there in the event of the intake on the side being submerged, now you have a raised air intake there shouldn't be any water coming in!!! cheers tom

    daihatsu engine tuning

Diesel tuning is pretty much the same principle as petrol - more air+more fuel = bigger bang - end result more power. You could wind your actuator arm in a couple of turns to give a touch more PSI from the turbo, but im not familiar with the diahatsu engine so im unsure of the working of the...

some pics of my 1st land rover 90

f**cked if i know how to do it, the forum won't let you put anything up any bigger than a postage stamp and i can't crop it without it being too big, copy and paste the photo into your own photo shop thingy and zoom in!!! tom

Note dislocated spring, position of vehicle purely for demonstartive purposes when cones were fitted on our farm.

some pics of my 1st land rover 90

I don't have front cones either only on the rear. Fair cop (if there is such a thing) yeah if your running all standard stuff it probably won't articulate enough to dislocate, mine with my gear does, i ain't gonna argue over if it will or won't and i don't need EVEN more equipment to keep it...

some pics of my 1st land rover 90

It says file exceeds the forums size limit, anything i can do about this?? Yes i do have cranked rear trailing arms but prior to fitting these they did still dislocate, if your crossing something where opposing wheels are on higher ground, i.e. cross axled then yes they will dislocate, in the...

not i have rear trailing arms not radius arms, spliting hairs perhaps but still the fact remains radius arms are generally regarded as upfront!!
