why tom? have you ever seen yours dislocate? im running a 2" lift without dislo's and i havent had any problems. and tell you what, i do some seriously MAAAAAADDD stuff :) your better off spending the money on extended bump stops to stop your springs binding NOW thats more likely to happen than a dislocated spring.

yes ive seen them dislocate plenty of times when my brothers been driving and me walking, also seen them half in the cup and half out without the cones!!! do you live in holland home of all things flat??
 
Oh yeah so it does, so are you telling me that with your 2" lift and your "seriously maaaaaaaaaaaaaad stuff " you've never had the rear springs dislocate??

half in half out - came away from a section with the spring not totally in the top cup, just on it, so it had dislocated and not returned to centre, quite simple really!!!

i know its simple! what happened AFTER. did it drop back in? did you have to boot it in? did you give up and go home?

No, pre-having dislocating cones its a case of jacking it up and re-locating it yourself, post having dislocating cones no jacking required! Its not a case of driving carefully, i drive carefully but certain obstacals require the axle to drop down and the spring to dislocate therefore dislocating cones are a good idea. As are extended bump stops, diff guards etc, we don't argue the toss over whether diff guards are a good idea do we??
Why this has turned into an argument over something that isnt arguable beats me, dislocating cones are a good idea if doing relatively harsh offroading in teh same way diff guards are, end of!!!

I said he was unlikely to need relocation cones because unless your doing extreme offroading then your unlikely to need them. and if your doing extreme off roading then a 2" lift really isn't enough and you should think of going to 4" or even 6" along with shortened shocker turrets and cranked radius arms then you'll need relocation cones.
 
I already have the shortened turrets and castor corrected radius arms along with carden prop. The only reason ive stayed with +2" is that ive been using it a fair bit this summer on some longer journeys on country roads and wanted to keep a bit of driveability, this winter however it may be taken back upto +4".
 
we were mainly discussing the rear axle, i've already said that he was unlikely to need them upfront if you'd like to re-read my post!!!
 
Id also love to post a photo of mine with a dislocated rear spring on a not too harsh bank, only i have no idea how to do that!!!
 
not i have rear trailing arms not radius arms, spliting hairs perhaps but still the fact remains radius arms are generally regarded as upfront!!
