    Morocco-GPS Question ?

Booger; likewise that's what I did with my old 60Csx, as you say well worth it. Griff; your right, It'll be interesting this time as my new Garmin Montana 650t GPS is also a fully routable satnav, just got back from Solvenia/Croatia and I was able to create a route on it using a waypoint/s and...

    Morocco-GPS Question ?

    Morocco-GPS Question ?

Agree G, O2 also has great coverage, but like all African roaming calls/data, still expensive, thankfully Euroland's changing. Although I've met a guy that was solo in the South and Western Sahara for 8 days without meeting anyone apart from Bedu, mind he was on a push bike. :o

    Morocco-GPS Question ?

Hi OLDUN, Paper maps are good, along with the obvious michelin 742, look at the insight one it's 1:800,000, less terrain detailed but much better for road mapping, there's also a rough guide one. Personally I wouldn't bother with Morocco maps from Garmin or TomTom, they just don't cover the...

    Morocco-GPS Question ?

Hi, As above, this link is also useful; Google Earth: Advanced Tutorials I used GE and mapsource, did all my planning and downloaded them to my garmin, worked very well. Olaf maps are also good, though dated in places because of the constant road building, but the POI detail is excellent...

    Morocco-GPS Question ?

hi, No, just a normal laptop in it's bag, not even a peli case. As long as important things are sealed in something, no problem. Still getting the sand out of the vehicle as I had the front flaps open. :) Cheers, mark

    Morocco-GPS Question ?

Hi OLDUN, Yes, yes and yes. Olaf maps are brilliant, but download without map contours, makes the tracks easier to see and with so much new roads being built, there will be data that is old. No problem without a outside antenna, mine worked very well. Plenty of dash mounts out there, either...

    Morocco-GPS Question ?

Hi, GPS; "GPS map for Morocco from Garmin" it'll be interesting to hear of your opinion, I opted against and took the olaf maps on my 60csx I picked some excellent stops/info not on paper maps. However I found both the Michelin 742 and the rough guide version were very good for detail, and the...

    Pyrenees

Hi, I've never had a problem, just dont do it in the national park areas, these areas are well sign posted. Have a look at; Wikiloc - GPS trails and waypoints of the World there's loads of dirt lanes everywhere, relatively cheap food/fuel, good camping as well. Plenty of info out there, have a...

    Trails in switzerland

Hi, I'll think your struggle to find tracks in Switzerland, also the Swiss authorities aren't keen on it, same in Austria. However, your that close to both Italy and France, there's a lot of dirt tracks/cols etc in both of these countries. Cheers, Mark

    Drive UK to South Africa.

Hi, Do it! Trip of a lifetime! There's plenty of info out there, and far more knowledgable people than me, but I believe Morocco down would be a safer, cheaper, quicker option at the moment, tarred roads all the way to Dakar (I've heard). 3 guys did it in 11days in a disco not so long a go...

Series III 109 as an overlander? Yay or nay?

Nothing wrong with a 109, as above, fit comfy seats and overdrive. Drove a S111 109 2.5 n/a around Western Europe a couple of times and some trips to France, loved it. Now have a 110, says it all, but still miss the series.

    Pyranees Route Idea's Please

Hi, my post on another forum, Maps; rough guide is excellent, also try to get michelin 343/344 1:150 000 for the French side and the 574 1:400 000 for the Spanish side. Satnav; copilot is excellent on a pda or garmin (but sure whatever you get is full street level European mapping not an MR &...
