    Outriggers - repair or replace?

Me too, and I don't fancy learning on something as structural and fiddly as a chassis outrigger! Definitely want to learn though - hopefully at some point I will be able to do this kind of job myself.

    Outriggers - repair or replace?

Having talked to MIBOffroad, I'm going to be getting both outriggers replaced next week. I decided it's worth getting them done properly before I get some chassis protection on. In case anyone is trying to get in touch with MIBOffroad, they have just moved so their phones etc are in transition...

    buying guide

This thread has a checklist attached that I made recently before buying a 300Tdi 90. I ended up with going with one that didn't tick all the boxes and I definitely didn't spend as long poking/hitting the chassis as a should have (hence I am looking at getting the bulkhead outriggers replaced)...

    Outriggers - repair or replace?

Took it in to a local independant to get a quote - £80 to repair the outriggers (he thought the repair would extend the life of the existing outriggers by a year or two) , £300 plus parts to fit new ones. (he reckoned it would be a days work to take the old ones off and fit the new ones) The...

    Outriggers - repair or replace?

A bit of wacking with a hammer has revealed some corrosion on both of the bulkhead outriggers (should have been more thorough before buying :( ) Is this level of corrosion repairable or should I get replacement outriggers fitted? The rest of the chassis has some surface rust but no serious...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Added a padded bracket to hold my disklok when I'm driving so it doesn't slide around the back. Also removed a rusty sidestep that looked like it was going to cause an injury at some point... Small jobs but my first time getting my hands dirty on a vehicle so I'm proud of myself. Next...

    Got my defender!

Yeah, definitely do a methodical check of everything before driving it away. I felt like such a mumpty when I got home and realised I had to lock the back door from the inside and crawl through to get out.

    Got my defender!

:) Here you go: Good news - it absolutely poured down with rain here last night and no obvious leaks this morning!

    Got my defender!

Picked up my first Defender today. Very excited! :) Everything seems good apart from like a complete idiot I didn't check all the locks. The drivers door is fine but the passenger door and rear door won't lock with the key :(. They lock from the inside at least. Guess I'm going to have to fit...

    Are bullbars always modifications?

Good advice - I've phoned insurance company and it will cost nothing to add the bull bar as a modification so I've done that. Thanks for the tip.

    Are bullbars always modifications?

Newbie question here - couldn't find the answer after a fair bit of searching. Below is a picture of the defender I have just bought :) It's a 1994 90 300Tdi County Hard Top. Everything seems standard apart from the bullbar on the front. Would this have been an aftermarket fit and thus...

    My recent insurance experience

I got the club membership discount as I have just joined the Midland Rover Owners Club - is that the same discount?

    My recent insurance experience

Got insurance on my first Defender yesterday. Have to say it was a bit of an arse to sort - no decent prices from comparison sites so I ended up giving our details over and over again on the phone to various companies. Turned out the combination of a hardtop 90 (counted as a van by most...

    South Africa.

Been going to SA every winter for the last 6 years (family over there) - absolutely love it! Not done the full drive from Joburg to Cape Town but have done it on the train - there's some amazing scenery en route. Definitely stop off in Sutherland (in the Karoo desert off the road from Cape...

    Defender buying checklist

Hi everyone, I am planning on buying my first Defender soon and I've been scouring these forums (and others) for information on what to look for when viewing potentials. I'm not expecting any Defender I can afford to tick all the boxes but at least I should have an idea of what work I'm going...

    Apiring Defender owner

Hi everyone, After many years of yearning for a defender I'm finally seriously looking for one to buy. I want a defender partly because I just love them, partly because I want something I can work on myself and partly because I want something that will handle winter road conditions and enable...
