My engine is covered in oil. There is a fair leak somewhere and it's been running down the back as well.

Could the master cylinder cause these symptoms? I'll be changing the clutch anyway, but it's actually hard to tell the difference between old and new, they are so similar.

Splutter would suggest fuel starvation to me. Could be that your fuel lift pump has failed. Can the engine cope with sustained high revs/load without dying? The injection pump will pull fuel though on it's own to an extent.

After a few near misses, I got a pair of these for my hardtop http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/mud-blind-spot-mirror.html. They are great but as above need to be really tight otherwise they move in high winds.

The lightest touch of the pedal disengages the clutch. I did all the hydraulics, including the flexi because the clutch fork had punched through causing the slave to pop. I did not check the clutch condition at that time.

Have you tried an impact gun? When I did my 200 tdi it took many attempts with my full weight on a breaker bar. If I had ny impact gun I would have used it.
