    Bulkhead & Dashboard Removal

Ive just done some major work on the bulkhead on my TD5 last weekend. I just repaired mine and didnt take the whole thing off, but for what its worth I would say this; Window frame removal refit - Headliner needs to come off, 3 bolts on the bulkhead either side, 1 screw either side above the...

    Bulkhead Vent replacement

Hi Everyone - I just wanted to feed back on my bulkhead repair to my 2000 TD5 Defender. I started on Friday night and did about 3 hours of stripping everything out. This included taking the windscreen frame out, which wasnt too bad due to the corrosion on the bulkhead, all the various sundries...

    Bulkhead Vent replacement

The bottom of the doors are all good so hopefully wont need much attention if any. I might rethink when I'm going to do this, I suppose Im getting cold feet! My mate is keen to help, but I think having a Friday evening and a Saturday would be wishful thinking to do the job. Thanks for the...

    Bulkhead Vent replacement

Hi Everyone I'm building up courage to repair the top of my bulkhead in my 2000 TD5. Its not too bad but it is rusting and has had some pretty ropy repairs to the passenger side where a patch panel was welding over the existing metal - it came from a quarry so it was probably just a working...

    No willing mechanics!

As Flat said, get an impact wrench - Lidl did one recently for about £60 it will make things a lot easier. I never really had a clue about mechanics and then ended up completely rebuilding my TD5 Defender. Basically you just take things off and replace it with something new. In my experience...

    Front pads clicking

Hi Everyone My 2000 90 TD5 front brake pads make a clicking sound when I'm driving along, but as soon as I touch the brakes the clicking stops. I did take out the retaining pins and copper slip them and this seemed to reduce the click for a couple of weeks then it returned. I have searched...

    Defender TD5 inlet manifold

Hi Everyone I'm finally getting the courage up to change the core plugs in my 2000 TD5 Defender at the weekend as one of them is slightly weeping. When I took the exhaust manifold off a couple of years ago it was an absolute nightmare with the studs snapping. I know that I have to take off the...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Adjusted the transmission break and fitted a new passenger side door latch mechanism. Hand brake was a doddle just a 17 mm socket. Door lock wasnt! Glad I refurbed the door cards last year tho as every thing came off great. A great tip from someone was to replace all of the plastic clips that...

    Fitting

I just took out the metal cover thats under where the middle seat is and did all the measuring and drilling off the Landy. I then retro fitted it. Probably took about an hour, but most of that was trying to sort out my drill bits!

Embarressed by my sender unit :-(

I have replaced the fuel pump on my TD5 twice. I now have a neat hatch cut out on the floor! I actually replaced the last pump as the gauge didnt work properly. It has made no difference with the fuel gauge. The gauge shows full when it is full but after halfway it isnt accurate. I checked the...

Female Connector to starter solenoid - where can I get one?

Thanks for the advice - the existing one has seen better days so I can reuse it. I'll have a look at RS components. Thanks again.

Female Connector to starter solenoid - where can I get one?

Hi Everyone I've been having some intermittent starter issues and its down to the original female connector to the solenoid. I have replaced it with a universal spade connector but its not tight enough and so I'd like to put a proper connector on. I've checked LRworkshop.com and Ive attached a...

Intermittent Starter problem - help please

Another update!! I got some WD40 contact cleaner as Tottott suggested and thoroughly cleaned the wee pug to the solenoid. Since then its started every time. I checked it about 20 times and no issues. Prior to the clean it was clunking all the time. Fingers crossed its sorted. She passed her MOT...

Intermittent Starter problem - help please

Update from 10 minutes ago. Went out started first time on the button. Drove to the local shop. 5 minutes later, no joy, clunk, clunk, clunk. However this time the starter turned about twice and stopped. Like the electrical feed was being cut. Forgot to mention that the battery is 6 months old...

Intermittent Starter problem - help please

Hi Everyone Occasionally I have been getting an issue with my starter motor. 95% of the time my 2000 TD5 90 fires up immediately. However occasionally I turn the key and nothing. No clicks. And then it after about 4 turns the starter motor sort of thumps, a short noise and nothing. As part of...
