    Rave Cd1

oh - like 'virtual CD' you mean ? - for those programs that you have to insert the cd everytime you want to run it - got that on me laptop - was always forgetting the cd's - it's never given me any problems

yup - looked at those as well - this DHSE had the 'powerbox' thingy & drove pretty well - 'nearly' bought a 2001 4.0HSE as well - but LPG wise the nearest place to me that sells it is about 20 miles away & not in a direction I normally go - so would mean 40 mile round trip just to fill up!

    Rave Cd1

yeah but..., no but...... but only takes a coupla mins to burn cd & then just copy the files to your hard drive - runs quicker straight from hard drive instead of having to keep running the cd - i've got 1 on me desktop, 1 on me laptop & a couple of spare cd's

if you've had yours from new then you've obviously looked after it - i think most of the p38 prob's are caused by lack of or no maintanance. is that the 200k or 2,000,000 service ? did point him in the direction of the positive recommendations for a range rover...

why - because I've got one ? - as i said i was in similar position to 'groenendael' looking at either a p38 range rover or a disco (tdi or TD5) spent 4 weeks looking at lots of both types & having done loads of research on here & other forums & speaking to other owners I decided on a 2001 TD5 ES...

    Undecided?

not sure when air suspension came in or if it was on the Tdi's - most TD5's are coil sprung - it's only on the GS & ES models (7 seater's) that have the rear air suspension

    Rave Cd1

right - here goes if you've downloaded it you should have an ISO file about 600MB called 'rave001' (or 002 depending on vehicle) saved somewhere on you pooter you need a cd burning program of some kind eg, NTI , Easy cd etc insert blank CD into CD burner if you double click on the ISO file...

    Rave Cd1

when you download it you don't actually download the PDF manual - you download the file that you then need to burn to a CD (using Roxio, NTI or any cd image burning software ) you can then access the manual on the CD with adobe acrobat or save the content of the disc to your hard drive & access...

    extra seats in a freelander?

may also be insurance problems with a vehicle that was not intended as a 7 seater in the event (god forbid) of an accident with your kids in the back i remember when i was a kid we always went in the back of my dads cortina estate - no seats just rolling about on the floor - all the way down to...

2002 disco over sensitive to road bumps , rolls a bit

yup - as Slob says the tyre (or the air in it) forms part of the suspension so - less sidewall = harsher ride think you'll find that most TD5's with 18" wheels came like that - as all TD5 GS & ES spec models came with 18" wheels as standard & cos mine's got 3 almost new & 1 brand new tyres on...

Should i swop Freelander for a Disco

YES ;) go for it - you won't regret it - £5k to £6k will get you an early TD5 (prob not top of the range model though) or a late top of the range Tdi ES both these td5's went for around the 6K mark recently (i think one was £5995 & t'other £6495 USED LAND ROVER...

2002 disco over sensitive to road bumps , rolls a bit

body roll is controlled by the ACE system - my 2001 disco has very little roll at all - it corners great It may be your 18" wheels that cause a harsher ride - noticed that with mine when i first got it & have heard it said several times that the 18" wheels notice the bumps more than the 16"...

enginewise both should be ok - 300tdi is very good engine - the BMW 2.5 in the range rover is reliable but some people think it's underpowered for the RR 300tdi disco is a very good vehicle - it's just all the elecronics on the P38 range rover that let it down , whether it's a petrol or diesel...
