1.8 Freelander engine coolant passages connection inlet passages to exhaust passages

Yeh i saw that - but i'm not convinced that in the 1.8 k series cylinder block, that the coolant passages for cylinders 1 and 4 are linked to both the inlet side and the exhaust side. .... if anyone knoww or remembers otherwise from experience, comments invited. This morning before i left work...

1.8 Freelander engine coolant passages connection inlet passages to exhaust passages

Thanks Nodge. Just a question still to yourself or anyone else who can remember the last HG renewal they did on the 1.8 K Freelander, still original question has got me interested, should the coolant passages on the inlet side of the block be connected to the exhaust side of the block? This is...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

I never thought I'd say this but they're quite fun to work on let alone saving you $$$ when you can do it yourself. Getting my hands dirty on my 1.8 today is a piece of cake.. knowing i correctly set the 3x timing belts on the Kv6 not too long ago, removing the timing belt on the 1.8 was a piece...

1.8 Freelander engine coolant passages connection inlet passages to exhaust passages

I think i answered my question today when time came to cleaning the cylinder head... a series of interconnected coolant passages... The 1.8 K series cylinder head has more coolant passages than the Sydney underground train tunnel system! (lol) So when the head is mated to the block, it promotes...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Hi Hippo, same here. Last few days i received the intermediate speed sensor in the mail but during the coming days i expect to receive the fluid temp sensor and the other 2 sensors next to the intermediate that i plan to also replace. Coupled with that, i've also ordered a new filter for it. So...

1.8 Freelander engine coolant passages connection inlet passages to exhaust passages

Hi again all, I’m changing the head gasket of my 1.8 as it started weeping coolant out of the cylinder head gasket, all 4 sides. When I removed the head today, it seems that it has lost torque on those bolts, so I’ve ordered new bolts, new gaskets, etc, etc, etc. Just a quick Q in relation to...

    Heater core _ Over Heats!!

It's funny i think of some of my videos and Hippo's comments about some nutter doing the solenoid resistance testing on the gearbox with the engine running and battery completely connected..... i fear the exact same thing for someone watching my video on how to adjust the thermostat setting on...

    Freelander 1.8 coolant system

Hi VKS and Greener, your original posts were a few months ago, did you solve your problems of overheating on the 1.8 as well as the fans kicking in at start up? I have a KV6 and 1.8. Do the fans stay on 100% of the time while the engine runs or do they shut off? When the fans switch on VKS, do...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Thanks again ZeFrench and Hippo, i guess it's still not fixed but I sense a feeling I am on the right track and am grateful for all the assistance from yourselves. I haven't got the sensors yet in the post and unlikely until next week so no work on the KV6 this weekend. Thanks to everyone here...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Hi Zefrench, reverse piston is all good, the gearbox guys checked that out and tested all of the solenoids. Thanx for that link by the way, you helped ease my paranoia that the fluid temperature sensor is part of that wiring harness.. when i searched and searched before, i saw that wiring...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Hi Zefrench, Yes! If you could get me the part number..great! If you could also get me the part number and someone who sells it (2nd hand Ok as long as works unlike mine),..excellent! It would be too much to miss to not change these 2 sensors before I put the transmission back in. These are...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Hi all, I've decided to heed your advice and check those 2 sensors that i never got a response off, the intermediate speed sensor and fluid temp sensor. I've actually found and already ordered an intermediate speed sensor off Flea Bay but as for the fluid temp sensor... can not find this...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Thanks Hippo. Don't know if I'll be doing it this weekend as have some sort of fever.. sore throat, feeling weak, nose sometimes runny, 2 people at work had it a few days ago, just my luck.. the weekend... more like the weep'end! Though I meant to say, it's great how things happen for a...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Hi, I rang them a few days ago and asked if they tested the sensors, they said they tested all the solenoids and they turned out fine. They said they checked all the cabling, wiring, connectors, etc, of the sensors and they seem fine. They said that there's no way to test the sensors unless the...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Update: I picked it up from the specialist yesterday and next weekend will install it. They cleaned it out thoroughly of sealant, they also said that as the shaft seal was pushed back too far, it was allowing the transmission fluid to leak out thus no fluid in the pump and other components...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Mine was more than a 1mm bead, both for the large case that joins the bellhousing, and for the rear cover, and the fluid pan case. I guess I once remember sealing this water galley plate gasket on my 1.8 K Freelander a few years ago and it leaked, and to get to the thing again, i had to remove...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Ok, have transported the Jatco to Craigs Automotive Transmissions at Chipping Norton. At first sight, he looked and commented that I may have overdone it with the sealant when i sealed the fluid pan and the bellhousing... hmm wondering if bits of sealant break off inside can that cause a 100% no...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Last saturday I removed the Jatco and the IRD. I concede I may have stated that i left the IRD in place, though I ended up removing it for better access. But, i left the subframe in place contrary to the RAVE which says to remove the subframe. As I removed the jatco and IRD, it was 2pm Saturday...

KV6 Freelander, no drive in any gear! 2WD conversion

Battery was definitely disconnected when i did that test. Should i do the same tests, both the twist type connectors and C90.. connector with it connected? On each occasion i did the test, the battery was definitely d/c. Niccage.
