No changes? As is your doing the same speed? In which case yes there is a problem, check your linkage, give it a spray of wd40 to free it up. If its not your linkage then you got a problem :)

For the 300tdi I think your getting charged a few hundred quid for a well known injection pump tweak that most DIY disco owners could do themselves. And buggering your MPG.

Assuming its a disco 1 with a lockable diff; Easiest way to tell if you have a broken half shaft is to put the car in diff-lock (drive back/forward a bit till the diff light comes on). Then jack up one wheel at a time, with a wheel off the ground try to turn it by hand. It should turn...

No need to remove head....You can just remove the rocker gear, slide it all off the shaft, make sure you keep the other bits in order etc. Then when you put it back together just replace the errant tapper!

Gotta be from the box seals or pipe joints probably mate if its front drivers side. Its an MOT fail n' all....thats why I got a recon one on mine!

Agree with Sean, even if there is a load of current flowing if one or all of the plugs are 0R (no resistance/dead short) then you won't read any voltage accross them when they are on.

Same sound outta my clutch and has been for a year abouts, getting no worse or better. I think its gotta either be thrust bearing like you say or possibly the input shaft rattling? shot bearings or summit maybe?

Might also be worth checking your fuel leak off pipes (the fibre covered pipe that runs from each injector to the next and then back the pump and then back to the tank). My 300tdi was having starting problems start of this year, new set of glow plugs and a meter (cost about a quid) of leak...

Heh yeah, me disco is on road tyres and I don't carry much around in the boot so I get pretty good mpg. When I put the mt's on it and have all the kit in the boot its takes a hammering :)

On an average tank I get anywhere between 550 and 600 miles. On a run (constant 60/70mph like) I can get around 650/just over till the light comes on.
