    Disco 4 (LR4) EPB maintenance/Failure

I bet the blokes who write BMWs service routines don't 'forget' stuff to make the cars look cheaper to run like LR does. If it ain't likey to fail inside warranty then LR don't worry about it. The handbrake module is reliable if its kept adjusted and the handbrake is used regularly.

disco 3 invalid data, parking brake, suspension, abs fault

Your best bet is to get the exact code numbers then head over to disco3.co.uk, it has a LOT of info on basically all errors you're likely to come across with these cars.

    R380 Emulsified Oil

Aye dexron II is ok to use in these boxes, it's cheap and has cleaning stuff in it. Then you can fill with what you prefer when it comes out clean

    R380 Emulsified Oil

A few r380s had oil coolers but not usually UK spec Discos. You'll have a pair of pipes running forward from the side of the box if you have a cooler. You should be able to get at the breather to feel if its disconnected from below. It runs froward then up the bulkhead. If its been stood for a...

    Egr blanking

Check the VIN, if it starts 6A then you're fine, if its a 7A (like my 56 plate) then you have the EU4 engine and you will need the EGR software patch to stop the engine light coming on.

    auto gearbox

From memory most boxes spec a max and min oil temp for checking. My 6hp26 has a fill plug/check plug so i assumed they all did

    New Defender - anyone interested?

Few companies round our way using sign printed base spec 90 hard tops as work vehicles. The coil suspension versions drop thier arses on the floor with any kind of weight in the boot. Got used to seeing them with thier noses pointing to the sky. In 10 years they'll be like the D3 and early D4s...

    auto gearbox

First thing to do with any autobox problem is check fluid level. Older cars may have a dipstick, usually up against the bulkhead. Newer cars you might need to get to the filler plug on the side of the box. You need to check the level with the car on the flat, the car at operating temp and the...

Injector codes correct? Injectors adjusted correctly?

    De cat and mot issues

Agreed, at some point it will come into public discussion and that will be that. Same with stuff like egr blanks etc

    Disco 2 Shooting hatch??

Always just shot out of the window myself. Had a fancy door mounted gun rest but it got lost when we moved, probably in the loft somewhere.

    Disco auto box reset

Edit - you can replace solenoids as you like, its best to change the oil and reset the adaptions after you do or you can get very harsh changes and potential damage whilst the gearbox learns the new solenoid values

    No drive

Does the gearbox go into gear without using the clutch with engine running? If so then something has happened to the clutch, if not then I'm thinking maybe sheared splines or somethint

    Td5 disco price, galvanised chassis

Have a proper look at the front arches and the sills under the covers. If the whole chassis was bad enough to need replacing I bet the thing wasn't looked after. Having said that I wouldn't spend that money on a D2.

    Disco auto box reset

And the adaptions will all be back where they were after 200 miles. If it is a bad solenoid they're fairly easy todo. Just time consuming getting to them.

    advice needed

If the garage who did the timing belt were land rover specialist's as you say then I'm amazed that they didn't inform you about the oil pump risks. Are they the same people who you have the warranty with? Having said that I doubt you could ever prove it was thier fault, they probably either...

    Did I overfill

Sorry it was 5000 miles, I tend to do less than 10k yearly so if not 5k then I'll just change twice a year. This is not just a D3 thing I did the same on my TDI and Td5, I do a lot of short journeys and the cars get abused as family workhorses so regular oil changes are the least I should do I...

    Did I overfill

I've been chaging oil every 5k in the D3. With the top mounted oil filter its actually an easy clean job to do. Only bugger is removing the engine undertray, but you can get under and do this with the car in off road height without jacks or stands. I usually put 5.5L in then start, stop and let...

Drive belt came off!! Is engine goosed?

You've snapped the aux drive belt, not the timing belt (the td5 have a timing chain). Fix whatever went wrong fit new belt and I'm sure the engine will be fine.
