I hope to blank the egr valves on my 2006 2.7 discovery 3 tomorrow, I have the kit but no guide came with it.
The job looks easy enough on line however but is it essential to remove the butterfly valve in the intake housing at the top of the engine?
Looks like work that won't effect the results to me.
Thanks for any help.

The TB butterfly valve is removed as a precaution, as it often fails, causing stalling or non-starting.

The blank plugs and plates are pretty self-explanatory to fit. However after 2007, blanking the EGR may put the MIL on, which will fail the MOT.

06 model will be just fine with blanks, yes remove the butterfly.
I initially removed the egr pipework, fitting blanks both ends of where the pipe fitted, but then when they revised the mot I refitted the pipes, but used the blanks in between pipe and the egr valve so it looks original, did use slightly longer bolts, the supplied blanks for the pipe to intake Y piece I did not use.

Keep any parts you removed, as you never know what the future holds.

Check the VIN, if it starts 6A then you're fine, if its a 7A (like my 56 plate) then you have the EU4 engine and you will need the EGR software patch to stop the engine light coming on.
