Well I couldn't wait to fix it so I went ahead and had a go and it wasn't too bad a job to do. I tried removing and refitting my old pump and it was exactly the same so I took it out and fit the new (used) injector pump. I'm relived to say that was the problem! The new pump fitted and checked...

I just wanted to check as I wondered if I fit the pump, pulley and new belt and turn it over by hand on the crank bolt? It feels like it has hit some resistance when turning it by hand so thaught I should check incase I cause damage to it!

The pump has finally arrived! I'll start fitting it tommorow. Just a query, the pump has arrived with the timing pin hole like this..... If I try line it up by hand it stops short of the hole - how should I be lining this up? Cheers!!!

When the new injector pump arrives should it just be a case of fitting the pulley to it with the timing pin tool and the timing should be correct?

When I put the new timing belt on can I turn the engine over backwards with the crank damper bolt in so I can check timing? As it just undoes when I try to go forwards

I wish I had a dishwasher lol I got it all cleaned up and when I held it against the glass it was a huge relief to see it is perfectly flat to the glass. Thanks for that handy tip!

I started to tackle it today and when I took the timing chest off my suspicions where confirmed, I was greeted with this... Riding over again! U followed the helpful advice from this forum and fount the injector pump pulley toes inwards... And also shows on the chest casing that the belt is...
