    Starting Bare Engine

If you have no pipes in the oil cooler holes your going to devoid the engine of oil very quick. I do think this is a very silly idea at the moment as the number of ancilliaries you need to bolt to an engine to ensure it doesn't self destruct it nearly as much as if you just fitted it into the...

Steering wheel catches cowling when turning right.

As above. Didn't happen prior to changing steering column..... Does the angle of the steering column reduce pressure on the cowling letting it sit in a better location (further towards the dash say) or is it a case of making clearance via spacers /hacksawing It's an 87 with a 4 spoke wheel...

    That woke me up.

not really - if you have something that is making connection periodically and pulling away it will arc regardless - in any circuit. its connected to negative of the screen and the earth point on the bulkhead. In a DC circuit a circuit measures the voltage the length of the wire from the...

    That woke me up.

agreed , and its something ill be looking into for sure, cant be having this. I suspect you may be right that its got damaged where it passes behind the dash in the shroud that the wiper rack goes through . Scorch marks suggest its arc'd right by the earth point and the wire is melted around...

    That woke me up.

Well well Ted After getting a chance to open the dash and see the damage Turns out it was the earth wire from the heated screen had melted and burnt out Now that's odd because it's a designed system from red bison and fused as supplied at the battery
