    Morocco May/June 2011

No problem, all suggestions are welcome! I always appreciate having more advice than I expected. :) Since the exact times/routes/activities and such will be negotiated with whoever comes along, the cost will obviously vary. I'm glad to hear that 2k is in the right ballpark though. - Andrew

    Morocco May/June 2011

I've generally read $40 (USD?) per person per day as a rough budget for Africa Overlanding. I think this was assuming two people per car, so maybe $60 per day for a solo traveller. Assuming inflation and the exchange rate cancel each other out, I guess we can just use the same numbers but in...

    Morocco May/June 2011

Giffdowg: thanks, I'll keep that in mind Booger: I'm reading his "Sahara Overland" right now as part of my prep for a year long trans Africa expedition, didn't realize there was a Morocco specific one! Just checked and it seems it has several more routes in it, so I guess I should pick it...

    Morocco May/June 2011

I'm wanting to go on a 2-3 week expedition to Morocco around May 2011. The group I was hoping to go with has fallen through, and I'd rather not pay for a company tour, and internet searches didn't come up with anything promising, so now I'm going to start posting on various forums looking for...

Thinking about starting a land rover wiki...

I would be very willing to have it a part of landyzone, but not even sure who I would talk to about that. I'll admit I assumed that the LandyZone admin wouldn't be interested. I've done a test wiki on a private site that I'm already paying for. It would serve to start up for sure, and should...

Thinking about starting a land rover wiki...

No, it wouldn't be my intention to replace a forum... besides, you can't really be a "community" with a wiki. And there will always be lots of unusual problems, or places you need to ask a non-standard question.... or just shoot the sh*t. Landyzone has been a great resource of me, I'm not...

Thinking about starting a land rover wiki...

Hi all, I started thinking about how there should really be a wiki somewhere, with a lot of the great information from sites such as this organized with common questions answered, basic information, part #'s, how-to guides (or links to them). I figured it would exist, but after a quick...

    Wiki?

No replies at all.... hmmm. Will repost in general chat I guess, since this is not really a question about THIS website.

    Which sat nav?

Anybody played with OpenStreetMaps? Looks like an interesting project, but not sure if the coverage is good enough yet for actual real-world use. - Andrew

    Mailorder4x4

Let me clarify... mailorder4x4 never sent me Britpart, it was paddocks I think. I was sort of miffed at the time but I guess it never actually said it wasn't Britpart. So I started looking for a company that would never send me britpart and found mailorder4x4.com... not used them yey though...

    Mailorder4x4

I seem to remember talking to these guys at LRO Peterborough, and the thing I remember is they stock Bearmach, not Britpart. I'm in Belgium, and already had the annoyance of opening a box to find it was britpart... - Andrew

    A fantastic opportunity...

I'd do it in a flash if I had more experience with Landy's.... even heading past there in a a couple years anyway! - Andrew

    Rear spring moved?

Just the page I was looking at! It's amazing what you can find when you know the right name. :) Never thought to look at at parts catalogs before as I figured it was a non-standard setup. Doh! I think I don't have those plates on the other side either, the springs seem to have been welded...

    Rear spring moved?

Yep, it's a 300tdi 110 CSW. Should have said that.... Knowing they are called "helper springs" makes the google search better! I thought the bracket (the one that the spring is pushing through) was the locating plate... it's keeping the larger spring in place still. I'll have to research...

    Rear spring moved?

...of course that couldn't just be the end of the story! Today on my drive home there was a loud "twang" noise from the rear... I pull over and can't see the issue, until I look at this spring... Now it's not quite as bad as it looks (I think), it's a dual spring setup and what you can...

renewing parts - when do I stop? Should I be pro-active with it?

I'm saying "emergency spare" in the context of a year long trip through Africa... so time isn't so much of an issue as the ability to actually get it done with no well equipped garage around. Do bushes ever fail from catastrophic failures that would stop you from driving to the next town? -...

    Rear spring moved?

Bloody modern phones... just posted it directly without paying attention to the size, lol. Never realized how large the pics from this camera are. - Andrew

    Rear spring moved?

Exactly what I ended up doing... had to remove the spare wheel from the back door in order to get the hi-lift in place though! - Andrew
