Defender 90 how easy to fix compared to disco

I have a 300Tdi/R380 in my 90, with the Disco-spec gear levers. With a cubby box in the centre it makes it so much more comfortable - I was wary at first thinking the gear lever would be too far back, but its in just the right position.

2nd photobucket account works well for me ;)

What have you done to your Landie today.

Jump started another car with it and found the bottom of the battery box is, er, well ventilated. That'll be some more welding needed then....

Devon & Cornwall green laning thread

Looking good! I need to do some lanes now that my 90 is reasonably capable of a decent length trip.

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

When I bought the 90 it came with a pair of Qt diff guards (unfitted). Decided to fit them today but got a bit stuck. Does anyone know if the front one will fit with HD steering arms fitted? I took the two bolts out that used to hold the rear arm guard but could not slide the Qt guard in...

A small change, but worth it; TD5/NAS spec fog and reverse lamps.

And new wheels: 16" silver Wellers with 265/70 Nexen road tyres, rather than the 15" white Wellers which had a mix of BFG M/T & Falken A/T 235/75's on. Would really like a set of good M/T's but for now just having a decent set of matching tyres on the right size rims will do fine!

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

Yet more work done on the 90 - now the steering only feels vague (as it should), rather than feeling absolutely nothing for quarter of a turn whilst all the slack in the knackered ball joints and steering arm got taken up.....

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

I fitted a 300Tdi Defender sensor initially, as the Disco sensor made the gauge read permenantly in the red. It initially had a 2.5 19J fitted, anyone know if the 19J water temp sensor fits the 300Tdi housing?

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

New rad doesn't seem to have made much difference to the water temp. Bugger. Pottering around the temp doesn't go above half way, but A-road/dual carriageway constant 60-70mph and it sits just below the red. However pulling over and lifting the bonnet I can take the rad cap off without it...

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

Swapped the rad out today: Rad itself was easy. Undoing the bleed point from the top of the thermostat housing was an absolute ball-ache. Some bugger had fixed it in and then mangled the top so normal removal just wasn't happening (tried socket set, big screwdriver, big mole grips and an...

    90 to disco 300tdi and r380 convedsion

Guessing you didn't save the axles off the Disco? My 90 has had a similar conversion, I really wish they'd gone the whole hog and used the Disco axles (all round discs, alloys fit without spacers etc). Job for next year if I can find a decent Disco to break. Good work otherwise, what...

15" Wellers with mix of tyres - cheap!

Size would help wouldn't it? :frusty: They're 235/75/15's.

15" Wellers with mix of tyres - cheap!

Set of 5 Weller 15's with two BFG M/T's, two Falken A/T's and a shagged tyre on the fifth one! The four decent ones are all legal with a good few mil of tread, but I have a set of 16's on their way. Available from mid-next week, £100 takes them away!

Set of 8 NAS Lights - New

NAS Light Kit - Paddock Spares Forgot it was excluding VAT, so £66 inc VAT, plus the £36 I paid for the wiring leads. Total of £102, I reckon £75 posted (26% off new price!) ain't too bad!

Set of 8 NAS Lights - New

Yep, they're on Paddock's website (8 lights as a pack are listed at £58 if I remember correctly), plus I bought the wiring leads from MM4x4 for around £4.50 each. All still boxed. Cheers

Set of 8 NAS Lights - New

Bought a set of NAS lights (4 indicator, 2 sidelight, 2 tail/brake light) for my 90 a few months ago but decided not to use them. Comes complete with 8 mounting rings, bulbs and a set of plug leads (6 2-pin, 2 3-pin). Cost me over £90 in total, so I'm looking for £75 posted. Cheers :)
