This sounds more complicated + will it be activated by the ignition switch? The little gadget only takes a bit of power so I don't think it will affect the lighter plug in any way.

Hi there, I am trying to connect a tire pressure monitor to 12V DC and was meaning to use the wires going to the lighter plug as they are switch-activated. What would be the best way to access the back of the plug without damaging the panel? Thx Ady

It's a 300tdi as the header says. Normally when it switched from 3rd to 4th gear it would drop from say 2700-2900 rpm to 2000ish. Now it drops at once to 1600ish which is too low. This on flat open road. It will then slowly gain speed and rpm until its ok again.
