Sorry a 98 4.6l with dodgy liners

Thank you for the reply. I think I have located the breather on top of the gearbox. I will check it in the morning. The only thing I am worried about is that it was a sudden event... With no other symptoms as though something had "gone"....

BTW there have been no other symptons I can think of, no judder or rev spikes and the power seemed normal - i just looked behind and saw clouds of white smoke which was the oil leaking from the dipstick onto the engine!

Tahnks for the replies I have the rf unit uncovered. do i disconnect both blue and red/black terminals and what will I not be able to do once done ( apart from greatly increased battery life!!)

Thanks for your reply dogsbody - the battery is disconnected most of the time as there is an enormous battery drain somewhere which flattens the battery within a week of non use so I have the battery terminal off when not in use

Aaaaaaargh!!!!! Get in it just now and turn the key whilst going through the selector box and hey presto.. it starts. Does this narrow it down to a selector relay problem? I am sure over the time I have had the issue, I have tried this with no success.... I would say I hate bl***y RRs but I don't!!
