hi i drained oil from ird and on the drain plug was metal filings, does that mean my transfer box is on its way out ? if i take out pinion will i be able to replace just the bearing and would i have to buy a puller or would bearing just slide off, and finaly ( sorry for loads of questions )...

hi, there is slight play at flange, if i drain oil and undo the bolts will the gear just pull out, is it the bearing or actual pinion that might of failed, thanks rob

hi ive got a noise from the front i think, sounds louder in drivers seat, just like a wheel bearing but ive no play in wheel when jacked up, i was fixing another problem which required me to disconect the front prop but when i drove it without front prop the bearing noise stops, its not the vcu...

hi update, realighned vcu support bearings and although noise is still there its hardly noticeable so i can live with that, but is it me but soon as ive cured one problem another raises its ugly head, went out for a drive and after a couple of miles a noise i can only describe as a wheel bearing...

hi i will try and see if new bearings are squared up, i cant see it being front prop uj as i had no noise before but i will check for backlash as you said, thanks again for advice, rob

hi thanx for reply, had no noise before, changed them as a precaution as rubbers were showing signs of wear, noise stops when i disconect front prop section, noise is like thers a unbalanced part somewere, should i have replaced prop back into origanal holes after i had changed vcu support...
