    Advice on jump starting

Keep an eye open for dedicated connection points for the jump leads. Some modern cars have them, instead of connecting to the battery positive and a ground point.

What have you done to your Freelander today

It's not long until winter. Getting dark in the morning as I'm leaving for work. I still have my CV boot to do before October MOT test time.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Ordered a Gates 5PK2030 belt to try to get rid of the chirping. I hope I don't need to faff on changing tensioners and pulleys. It was bad enough trying to get the belt, ebay insisted on only showing AC drive belts, and Eurocarparts only had Dayco belts at more than twice the price, £30 instead...

Stupid question....but what are these 3 'pipes' under seat?

They would only collect methane under my driver's seat. ;)

And that's why I missed out on the good one!

Freelander 1 SOLVED: td4 " P1190 Governor fuel plausibility deviation at high speed ".

A look through this video may be helpful to you. Ignore that it is BMW oriented, it is basically the same engine as the TD4 in the Freelander 1. Comeinhandynow Has some useful injector information for you in his Freelander videos. https://www.youtube.com/user/comeinhandynow Sealey are generally...

Isn't corrosion wonderfully entertaining stuff? :D Glad to see that you got it mostly sorted. I hope that the rest of the job goes smoothly for you.

What have you done to your Freelander today

If I had of been closer with better travel options (i.e. not stuck in a Covid carriage on a bunch of trains) I would have had that.

What have you done to your Freelander today

No, that's international hazard orange. It warns you of another place to not drop nuts and bolts into. Let's hope that it works! Do you not find that Waxoyl and similar trap moisture in and cause their own corrosion problems?

You assume correctly, Hippo. I'm old and I get easily confused! :)

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Whirring noise.

Fuel pump or cooling fan would be my prime suspects for run-on noises.

    Freelander 1 Coolant/heater problems

Sounds like a leak, air getting in somewhere. No mayonnaise looking deposits under the oil filler cap and nothing looking oily on top of the coolant reservoir, is there? No visible dribble of coolant on or under the engine? No wet carpet in the passenger cabin?

Freelander 1 SOLVED: td4 " P1190 Governor fuel plausibility deviation at high speed ".

It's normally Asda fuel that gives me problems, mostly just a bit of extra smoke, but I still go there all the time, lol.

@Hippo do you know if those relays have flyback diodes fitted? That may explain some unexpected resistance values.

    Tutorial to take Satnav out?

Honestly, built in satnavs are a bad joke after a year or two. The updates are way overpriced, if they're still available. Map apps on a smartphone or similar are much better. That said, I generally prefer to keep my head unit stock, as they usually integrate vehicle functions. The Freelander...

Freelander 1 SOLVED: td4 " P1190 Governor fuel plausibility deviation at high speed ".

I would guess that the PIC would read the incoming signals from the sensors, tweak them a bit and send out a different level signal to the ECU. Effectively telling fibs to the ECU so it supplies more or less fuel in certain situations and asks for more or less boost from the turbo than would...

Freelander 1 SOLVED: td4 " P1190 Governor fuel plausibility deviation at high speed ".

If the box is still open, you could lick a fingertip and wipe it over where the markings on the chip were ground off. It often helps you to read the markings that are left. That and tilting it to catch the light differently.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 diesel starting on 3 cylinders, now running properly, after cylinder head change.

That's not black, sludgy oil. It's LandRover's special blend of unicorns and rainbows.
