auto? if so the shift points are differnt on 3.5 and 3.9 and not sure if that can be changed easily jamesmartin will probably know

thanks guys, took it out today and put it in and it primed no problem which was good as quite a lot came out with it. However having checked the std spring and new std valve again and the currently fitted one they were exactly the same, maybe 2mm in the spring but both of those were original...

hi gents early 3.5 v8 with pre sd1 oil pump and real steel high vol kit fitted, previous engineer, now sacked and well know on here a few years back fitted the high press relief valve as well as the high vol kit . according to real steel the fitting of both is a no no as it puts too much strain...

It's the pre 76 sd1 pumps that were really poor, I updated mine in the 72 rangie with the high vol kit which brings it up to the later spec. Not sure the later pump changed I till the rotary one but they changed the oil grade in the book ages before that trying to look modern next to Toyota and...

I think there later recommend of 10w40 semi was trying to pretend to everyone they had a modern engine under there when really it was a ww2 design! With a flat tappet engine you want lots of zinc in the oil such to the point real steel sell an additive as none of there fancy modern oils have...
