I honestly dont know, my 2006 has the pump and the filter under the rear wheel arch, a lot of bits are different to the 2001 i had. I do know 60,000 miles on the same filter is a bloody long time, change mine every service.

Stab in the dark here, sold my 2001 ages ago so going from memory. Could it be the switch that cuts out in an accident, think its on the right as you look under the bonnet, behind the battery if i remember. The filters are easy enough to change.

Any one know the score with checking the transmission oil in an auto box. Haynes manual seems over complicated to me, if you have a oil level hole, why not top it up through the same hole. Book says there is a filler hole and a level hole, poor in filler hole until it runs out the level hole...

Have these Freelanders got the cut out switch for the fuel for when they get hit, seem to remember seeing something on here about it before. Just a thought.

Dont know if its still the case or not. Early Freelanders had a relay that operated the locks and alarm, it was in a possible to get hold of this relay and pull it out from out side the locked car. Soon as it was pulled out, the doors unlocked. Never thought to look if its still in the same place.

The beeping is from the dash and relates to the flashing red light on the dash, stops soon as the key is near the ignition switch.

My 2006 td4 locks itself, both key fobs can be well out of range and it does it when it feels like it. Not had any problems with the immobiliser tho, press the button and it unlocks again. I do get an alarm in the car when i unlock it, it stops soon as i put the key in, maybe the transponder in...

Can the front drive shafts vibrate like a prop, the problem does seem to be in the drive somewhere, i would still bet my life on the prop if i didnt know it was off.

No obvious whack but it does run a little rough when cold, maybe an injector. i will have a look round the bushes and pulley over the weekend. cheers.
