What did you do with your Range Rover today

The note explains there is fuel plus a 75kg driver added to the minimum weight of the vehicle to create the kerb weight.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

It was a recon Bosch pump, but clearly not done a very good job with it. Been fitted for a month. Big sad.

Sweet, thanks. Think I've used him before for other bits and bobs.

Don't suppose you have his details? I'm going to need a new pump for sure. Went out to defrost the car this morning and she wouldn't start, but dumped all of the contents of the FIP on the ground.

Found out the hard way, don't buy a "fully reconditioned pump" from CN4x4. Been on about a month and already leaking through the seals. He has ghosted me for refunding the core charge and now ghosting me about fixing the issue. Giving him until tomorrow morning before I raise a dispute with...

    Military tool kit?

That's a Supplementary Tool Box, or "Tiffy Box". I was always told if you have a VM Basic Box and a Tiffy Box you have all the tools you need to strip a Landy down to component parts... in theory. I think I still have the contents list on my work laptop, I'll have a look later and let you know...

He had 2 options available, several wee taken off scrapers, but for a few hundred extra a fresh refurbed item, not gonna lie. It isn't the cleanest job, but I can only assume his ad wasn't a massive lie and cleaning the FIP wasn't as important as refurb. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/296645921474...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Finally found a place that'll replace my FIP (Steve Dart Classic Land Rovers for anyone in the south west), but found out Diesel Jones haven't carried the FIP since 2016, so dunno who you all dealt with, but they wanted nothing to do with me. But did get wished good luck on my hunts. Luckily I...

Okay, I'll have to touch base with them, see what they have available for me. Given I'm on 272k miles, its probably done its time in hell.

I don't unfortunately, not in this part of the world anyway. I'll have to dig into my wallet and buy some new tooling. Always makes the wife happy.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I've got the guide and studied it a few times, I used it when I did the main body seals. Issue is the guide is for a Disco where there is a lot more accessibility since the FIP is higher up on that engine. There are so many accessories in the way. Takes someone with much more limber hands than...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Spent half the day trying to find someone who'd replace the FIP. It's leaking out the back where the O-Ring goes... turns out nowhere I have called (various garages from Wiltshire to Dorset) will do FIP replacements, or won't touch P38s (some Landy specialists). Which is insane. Even tried BMW...

    P38 diesel FIP leak

I did mine a few weeks back. Worth getting the security bit off eBay or similar. Easier than drifting on a 7mm socket and then trying to find a replacement bolt. I used a paint pen to mark 3 sides of the pump, and when refitting I ran a small amount of PX7 (diesel works well as an alternative)...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Took her for a trip into the muddybits on Sunday. Kept up OK, but everything else on the trip was a lot thinner than the ol' bus, so was a bit tight in places. Also, turns out trees make great rust removal devices. I've ordered some kit to remove and repair the wing. Colour match will be gash...

I was less than impressed. Really wanted to be angry when I went to get the keys, but they were hiding behind the receptionist, and I couldn't take it out on her, wasn't her fault I was angry. Thanks for finding that for me. My wife managed to get me booked into Townsend Garage (on the A303 if...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Took her in for MoT, booked in for 9am, so I left it with them since I had phys at half 8. Day starts ticking by, nothing. Pop in at around half 4 "oh we haven't done it because the emissions tester wouldn't communicate with your car and we're really busy" I am pretty sure he thought I had a new...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Either I am on crack, or I can't find the P38 on their website. The pump is a recon unit from 2017ish. I kinda expected it to last longer than this.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Well I fixed the cut out at idle issue, but now have a rough idle, and more importantly, still seem to be leaking fuel. The sensor at the rear of the pump under the head. I assume that is wet, since it has an oring. They a likely failure point? Because the other option is the head is still...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Pretty sure all that comes through there is fuel returned from the spilloff pipes. The main fuel supply comes into the main body of the pump below the QA block. I just hope none of the "precise engineering" breaks free as it'd write off my pump.

The QA from the FIP, this part looks damaged, but seems more tooling than wear and tear.
