As a LR novice you really would get benefit from buying the owners handbook and a Haynes manual. The Haynes restoration manual is also a good read. Together these will give you enough information to operate & maintain your (new to you) vehicle plus tackle the inevitable repairs.

Totally agree. Brought up in the days of a (Haynes) workshop manual with thumb-marks on the corners. Gets wet, dropped on the floor and splattered with oil but still going strong. :D Then again, I still read books rather than having a Kindle (or whatever it's called).....

If it had the manual ignition-key operated glow-plugs then it could be that a previous owner didn't like having to hold the key against the spring and fitted a separate switch / relay instead.

Surely the wheelarch extensions will take away any "look" of a S1 (or 11 or 111)?
