Optimil hinges, paint missing around hinge spacer on door

Don't see how the original hinges themselves aid theft protection but if you fit the door security plates, Optimill handles (which contain a real lock) and disconnect the pop-up latches then you have done as much as you can. That said, a pro could still probably pop the locks within seconds but...

    Vanishing coolant

Any suggestion that the coolant is leaking from the heater matrix? Is there a smell of coolant when you turn the heater on or do the windows mist up?

Just replaced my A frame ball joint...

This is how I have always done my bushes, each one of my A-frame ones was less than a 10-min job (and they had been in for 18-years to my certain knowledge!). Cut through the rubber with a holesaw. Remove centre sleeve (or in case of A-frame bush - sleeves). Cut through outer sleeve with...

    Ninety / Defender windscreens...

Yes. If you fit a heated one (as I did to my 90 20-years ago) then you just need to sort out the wiring.

Defender Tailgate Half swing door fitting

It's just standard parts as used on a safari door. If you are stuck about what goes where just check a manual or exploded parts drawing.

Correction, the links DO work (they didn't on the preview page)!

    Chassis swap

I ran a thread about my own 90 chassis swop (single-handed at home) a couple of years ago, it was a strip-down job rather than a straight body-swop but may still be of help? The only problem about moving the body straight across is that you will be missing all sorts of issues that you will have...

    Led headlight - defender 90 td5

I used Wipac units with Nightbreaker bulbs and upgraded wiring / switchgear. Many use something like a Boomslang loom but I made my own and bypassed the original switchgear (used relays to carry the current, not the switches) and it made the headlights more than acceptable.

    Optimal Door handles don't fit

A bit late to this post but I was going to say that I have had Optimill handles for years now (and have also swopped them from my old doors to the new galvanised ones) and never had any fitting problems. I then read it again and realised that you hadn't removed the nut! Glad it is sorted.

    Led headlight - defender 90 td5

This has been done to death and legal issues aside, the biggest problems often seem to be that often the light output / spread is poor, condensation and lifespan. If an LED headlight is cheap it is cheap for a reason, take any "legal markings" and sales blurb with a pinch of salt. I have had...

Optimil hinges, paint missing around hinge spacer on door

I think it would look best if you could carefully touch up the paint, if the paint finish was not going to be good however then you may have to go with the larger shims. Unfortunately I can see that there is a chance the final finish could look a little disappointing. Had a re-spray been done...

    Windscreen replacement

Haven't you got windscreen cover? If so just go with their local fitter but consider supplying a new rubber (they split over time).

PLEASE Help me deal with V627/1 DVLA form

Again I would be wondering how you even started down this route? I have changed my engine & body type but it never went any further than just sending through the amendment and receiving the new logbook back. By the way, there are serial numbers on the axles (stamped onto the tubes) but I don't...

Optimill front door hinge's, worth the money ?

I fitted them in 2015. In 2017 I then fitted the matching door-handles (well, it would be rude not to). Like I said, you don't NEED them but if you can't treat yourself from time to time.......

Optimill front door hinge's, worth the money ?

Optmill hinges are great but you don't NEED them, you just have to LIKE and WANT them (and I speak as someone who has them F&R on my 90).

    Canvas frame dimensions?

Roll cage or tilt frame as they are two entirely different things? As it happens my 90 has both (well, for roll cage read MOD spec hoop) so I might be able to help when I next get to the vehicle.

    Gwen lewis mud shields

Got them F&R on my 90. Fitted the front ones back in 2013 (when I had my bulkhead galved) and was so impressed that I fitted the rear ones in 2020 (when I was replacing the chassis). The good thing is that you can still get behind them with the hose to wash out the crevices. The OS one looses...

    Snorkel

Mine has been like this since fitting in 2003, no issues. This is the position for when in excessively dusty or wet conditions, put it like that the day it was fitted and never changed it. Prefer it that way.

    Electric into MUD console

If you mount the aux fusebox behind the console then it means that if you have an issue you need to remove the console just to check a fuse. Mount the aux fusebox where you like but you don't want to make life difficult for yourself in the future. Personally I do have an aux supply direct from...
