    X eng pedal lock

Had one for yonks. As I recall a bit of fettling was required for a good fit (and to make sure it sits flat when not in use) but when positioned correctly it is fine. As you can see I have no carpets and I did trim one edge (RH corner I recall) to prevent fowling but when done it is a neat...

Raptor metal instrument binnacle and frame

If the binnacle is the same age as the mount then it is likely that it will be as fragile. When you mount the (flexible) binnacle onto the new (steel) mount it may be pulling where before it did not and therefore you may loose a tab (or two).

Raptor metal instrument binnacle and frame

I fitted the Raptor steel binnacle-mount some 10-years ago because as you say, the old plastic one just falls apart with age. Perfect fit and still doing its job. Binnacle became available 2-years later and again, perfect fit.

    Engine Swap

It does. Converted my 300TDi 90 to auto in 2016 and it is a delight to drive. Nippy & relaxing all in one, I still haven't come across a situation where I wish I was back with a manual.

    90/110 fuse box replacement.

    Did mine 3-years ago.

    LED Headlight Discussion and Recommendations

Mine will be first generation as I have had them since Oct 2014. Hence, no DRL. And yes, they were (are) expensive.

    LED Headlight Discussion and Recommendations

I have Nolden's (the type fitted my LR) and they are fine although possibly not worth the cost on the £ per light-output scale. They do however retain more of the traditional look than some others. You are just up the road from me (Banbury), if you wanted to see them at night before parting with...

New chassis / brake pipe clip holes

I fitted a Richards chassis back in 2020 and there were no brake-pipe holes (or for the fuel-lines as I recall). Easy enough to sort. Just drill the holes where you want them to be (which may not be where they were on the original chassis), clean & paint then rust-proof. I used the OE type...

    300tdi Temp guage

I think the thread is 1/8 NPTF and that is the one supplied with the gauge. Fitted it several years ago but absolutely certain it screwed straight in and there was no messing about trying to source a different sensor. Certainly no adaptor was required (I bought one for the capillary gauge...

    300tdi Temp guage

As with many LR's, mileage is completely irrelevant on this vehicle! Bought in 1999 ex-MOD with KM speedo so immediately bought a (used) MPH speedo which showed 43511M, the rest of the mileage has been added by me over the following 23-years. Only about 5% of the vehicle remains original and...

    300tdi Temp guage

I have a Durite temp gauge in my 300TDi and the Durite sender was a direct swop. Very accurate. Did buy a capillary gauge (with adaptor) at the time but thought the tube may get damaged over time so went for the electric option instead.

    Replacing brake pipes

When I replaced my chassis a couple of years ago I just bought an Automec kit, couldn't be bothered in making them up and the kit was a direct fit.

A Frame ball joint bracket query.

A-frame bushes, the double layered ones? Easy job, did mine in under 10-mins each. Fitted SuperPro replacements.

Fitting "Defender Demisters" what am I doing wrong?!

My 90 is 1986 and has the shorter vents. I made my own side-window demisters years ago, still working fine. What I did (when the dash was stripped down) was drill into the large vent-box under the dash and run 20mm corrugated tubing up to each side of the dash and drill a hole through so the...

    New front door

I can't comment on their built-up doors but I bought a pair of (bare) galvanised front doors for my 90 in 2019 and the quality was very hit & miss and the customer service completely non-existent. SP4x4 has been covered at length on here (and other forums) and unfortunately for everyone who is...

    Newbie query about 90 lights

In the certain knowledge this is highjacking the original post (sorry :() yes, I did convert to auto back in 2017 using an Ashcroft kit. Best thing I had done to the vehicle in years. Hoping to keep some relevance in that I believe the OP said his TD5 is also coupled to an auto-box?

    Newbie query about 90 lights

One again, guilty as charged however in my defence it is a Falon Nameplate badge (clutching at straws here!). The rear one can't be confused with a Series item so that should be ok? Also I am pleased to say that since I took the photo the plastic one has been consigned to the bin! :D

    Newbie query about 90 lights

"it's a later Puma bonnet and doesn't have a stay fitted which is becoming a pain in the proverbial." Is it metal or plastic? The Puma bonnet does not have that horrible vent and anyway, aftermarket or genuine it should be fitted with a stay. Lets just hope that isn't an example of the skill...

    Newbie query about 90 lights

With a modified (bodged?!?!) vehicle it is always best to run through things like the electrics to see what does what, what works and if it has been done properly. As soon as you find a Scotchlock or twisted & taped joints run for the hills! I had the Wipac lights (the large diameter ones) but...

    Stainless steel exhaust

I also have one on my 300TDi and have no complaints. :D They do sell them for the Puma so I would say give them a call.
